.50cal Derringer. I made this, request by a friend. :rootintootin:

I'm sure it will go on a much nicer looking saw, DexterDay. ;)

Factory port is closed with sheet metal in place of screen...pull it out for optional third port:dex:

Some serious craftsmanship here. Nicely done. Makes me want a "stack" on my saw.

You've got some nice stuff. All I have right now is an AC Hobart and a max star 150s. Tig on it is touchy with the hot start and no foot pedal.

The scratch start on this is like silk ...........
Everything about this is just smoothe and consistant, definitely well worth the just under $10k (torches/hoses/tungsten/torch parts/shielding gas & regulator/water setup/machine/disconnect switch/service cables, etc.)

Now this one is well thought out as well as killer looking !

Keeping close with the direction that the original exhaust went is a huge key to running your saw without being miserable.
IMHO, the dual port mufflers don't get the fumes far enough away when bucking large wood.
A large single opening at the factory hole, or some sort of baffle or pipe like this to help get the exhaust away in the right direction goes a LONG way towards liking your saw when you run it !!!

Not pretty....but it works & is pretty much hidden :saw:

Part of the 40 yr old muffler on the 125C where the baffle & spark arrestor screen are attached was mostly rusted & burned through,it was barely hanging on.Finally fell apart on Saturday afternoon. The baffle tube, screen, clamp pieces & exhaust deflector are quite rare & hard to find parts.Even though the bare muffler is easy to find with a little searching.

The whole assembly was rusted together :loco:  had to take it apart, one of the allen head socket screws had twisted off,so I ground the piece flush & did away with 1 of the pieces. 1 1/8" holesaw cut exact size hole in the patch for that baffle,2 new self tapping hex head screws completed the assembly.

Not wanting to spend $30 to 40 for a New Old Stock bare muffler right now,I looked in my stash of scrap heavy gauge sheet steel & made this ''patch'' Monday afternoon so now I'm back in business.... Should last a couple years at least... Thought about painting it high temp black, but decided against it since it'll be all burned off before too long anyway ;)

Husqvarna 288XPW dual port muffler mod July 2012 - In last pic of finished project a few days later I filed a notch in top cover for that upper hex head screw to be exposed.Cover fits much better that way.

Simple, real cheap, and super effective at getting the exhaust out and away from the cutting area. Done with 0.009 stainless 16x16 wire for a spark screen with maximum flow.

    First 2 are 066, last 2 are 044

Hey...... I just noticed that the exhaust port in my ported 044 is just about the same size as the exhaust port on my stock 066.o_O

044 first pic (wider and almost as tall), 066 second pic (taller but narrower)
