Very interesting... It seems to have all the features that I like on my Husqvarna 562, but now in a Stihl chassis and with the power. By features I mean I like the single switch that returns automatically to on. I like the kept bar nuts even when loosened. I like the auto-carb feature...so it has what I like on my current Husky, but is a Stihl. Still, at $1,860.41; that is one expensive chainsaw!!
I've been waiting for that saw, but way more money than my 661! Almost $600 more than I paid for my 661 new. That was 3 years ago but over $1800 for a smaller saw with the same features?!?
Thanks for posting this up. Looks like a cool saw. I dont think that price will stick, they wouldnt sell any. I could be wrong tho.
$ 1860.41 ? Are u kidding me ? !!! At that price I “wood” be buying all the 461s I could afford ! Are you positive that’s the msrp for the USA ? Seems unbelievably expensive
I just cheked the Stihl website in hopes of getting a price quote from a local dealer but the 462 isn't yet listed.
Im sure that price will drop. Im betting 1099.00$ or therabouts. And one can only hope that it has no recalls or glitches since m-tronic has been around awhile now.
Maybe you should give it a few months before you buy this one Ralphie Boy ! Let them works the bugs out!
I was super interested in this saw before I decided to go with a 562xp, but there was no definitive dates on when it would be released so I went with the 562xp...if this saw gets released in the $1000 range I would strongly consider grabbing one anyway. Seems to be the power of a 70cc in the size/weight of a 60cc.
Stihl has captive bars nuts on all the pro saws not but the 70cc ones. Mtronic is available on all pro saws but the 461. The master control lever auto returns on all the Stihl pro saws but the 70cc ones.
Some STIHL dealer overhere: STIHL MS 462 C-M Dunno whats that C - M is about but you STIHL-Heads might know anyhow.
1215 euros is about $1500...I sure hope it isnt that much, anything under $1100 I think it'll be a winner but over $1100 I cant imagine it being a huge seller. 13.2 lbs is pretty awesome for a 70cc saw though...my 60cc Husky 562xp weighs 13.4! For guys slinging these things around for a living thats gotta be pretty attractive. $1100 or less and I'm going to have a hard time not picking one of these up and putting my 562xp up for sale.
Thats the offer, about 1500euros is the listed price and thats around 1.8k - i reckon beeing a little patient will save you some bucks. Even though i can understand if someone gets itchy fingers as its a sexy lookin machine.
No, I am not 100% sure. In the video the Swedish guys said that it was a "professional saw and did not come cheap at $1500 Euro". All I did was find the equivalent in US currency. When I bought my MS 461 (2) years ago, it was $1032.00, out the door, on sale, so I was expecting $1500 or so, but $1800 is a lot!
Things are typically more money in Europe...so while 1500 Euro translates to $1800 US I could see it being less than a straight conversion rate. Even $1500 US is too much in my opinion...I sure hope its $1100 or less.
I think they are going to sell plenty of them regardless because it is a professional saw; a person has to pay to play (or get repaid as it is). It is the cost of doing business in the woods today. I went with a Husky 562 because of cost granted, but it has become blatantly clear that the Husky 562 doesn't even belong in a forest, let alone anywhere near in class to a Stihl 70 cc saw. It would make a good saw for working wood up on the deck, but in life you get what you pay for.
It is NOT going to be $1100. 6 Months ago when I was shopping for a MS461 the cost was $1100, so an upgraded model of the same thing is not going to be the same money.
