It's not THAT big of a difference though. Not for an individual purchase. It certainly adds up for your total sales volume but that wouldn't concern an individual customer. Almost like it was designed that way.....
I asked that question because when I visited my BIL years ago in PA.There was a garden shop dealer who had STILH'S for sale. When I saw the price on a 16 inch model it was about three hundred dollars cheaper than the same model back home so I snatched it.The price drop was unbelievable.
I would think the internet has leveled that out some. It's hard to take advantage on someone when they can go online, before or after the sale and see what the price should really be. Between that and word of mouth a business like that wouldn't be open for very long, i would think. Though people with money seem to be convinced that if it costs more it must be better so....
Late to the party here. I own both. 460 ideal for longer bars. Owned the 462 for less than a year and is lighter. Mtonic a plus for me. I kinda have them in a rotation for use along with the 400 & 500. Any pics Kieth?
Funny you said what you said because when I went back two years later the shop was gone.I was ready to see what else they had for saws.
Kinda sounds like they underpriced themselves right outta business. There's a fine line i would think. Sounds like you got lucky finding them to start. $50-100 is one thing..... $300....
I couldn't believe it.I should have bought another larger saw at the same time.I thought they would be around because I didn't see a going out of business sign which seems that's what that price was all about.
I think the dealer does it so they can offer military discount; might break even power head, but make it back in service bars etc.. plus owner is military
Looks like it would polish up real nice and the can is not caved in. Wonder if that’s the original bar? Makes me want to cut wood. Offfer him 700.
Something like "is this still for sale"? and "you take a Wild Thing on trade/deposit and tree fiddy next Friday"? Oh wait, those are just the offers I would get... And then when I say no, they ask if I'll take "$1000 worth" of live edge lumber on trade...I said nope, but I'll take cash after you sell that "$1000 lumber"! (I was asking $450 for my item BTW)
The response I received was...... bought new from a local dealer, still has dealer stickers. Very low hours, original bar. Selling because he wants to get a 500I without pizzing of the Mrs. I asked for a few more pic's.
