Sorry. Was supposed to say I decrimped the muffler. I heat the crimp up with a torch and use a straight screw driver to pry open the crimp.

It should be illegal what Stihl does on a stock 361 muffler.

    Very detailed thread.

I would love to do my own saws.. Till I do (never), I will leave to people like you, Terry, Randy, Brad, Scott K, Ed Heard, etc (You could go for days).

Nice pics. Thanks for sharing!!

Nice work, man. 361s continue to be a favorite around here and almost never show up to our shop as a trade-in (unfortunately for saw vultures like me haha). Between tree services and firewood guys looking for more production, I'm sure anyone that builds up a mean 361 will have a full work bench each year.

Nice stuff. I've got a stock 361 and wondered why I hadn't seen much info on these getting worked over. It seems most port 70cc+.

Someday, it just might become my first ported saw.

IMO the 60cc class saw is one of the best for most wood cutters. It coupled with a lighter limbing saw is all that most will ever need. Take this saw for instance. This is my 066. Original bar and chain. That's how much it gets used.

Yep, I agree. I have a 192t for limbing, the 361, and an 066 for the big chit. Like you, the 066 never gets used. It's been a year and a half if I remember right.

I've had few dealings with the 361 till a neighbor brought his over for a small mod...
I was pretty impressed with it...

They run more like a husky...
