Hey, Kimberly , with all the equipment starting problems you've had here recently, maybe ya need to get a can of this to keep around... (JK)
Reported, "Ya Basta..."..........HAHAHaHa.... Jus kiddin......I could not, would not, resist that opportunity.
Kim would say it "Come on, start ya bloody Bahstud!"...dontcha think? I can hear it now... propah English So, ya get that new starter on yet Kimberly ?
Starter will have to wait, I am invited on a free holiday by my younger sister; going down to Georgia for three days. See you guy on return; or maybe I will log in when back in the room at night.
Well okeydokey then, have a good time in the peach state! We will be here waiting on you to return and write the final post to this thread..."all better" Maybe some tree service rascals will "illegally dump" a load or two of wood in your drive while you are gone! Be a darn shame' eh?! NOT!
No joy in Mudville. I installed the used OEM recoil and before I could start it the rope hung. I took the recoil off and got it to rewind the rope and then tested for smooth operation off the saw, installed it back to the saw and went to test starting. Put it in choke, pulled a few times until the sputter, put in run position, pull the rope, and the saw runs but the rope hangs again so had to cut the saw off. What is causing this? And please no comments about I don't know how to start the saw because I have started this saw many times since it was given to me.
Seems like something is binding. I have no idea. Hope one of these guys can point you in the right direction. Only thing I can think of is that the recoil spring is not wound tight enough.
Thanks. I don't think this is the case; the spring on this recoil feels stronger than the one on the old recoil that was giving me trouble; one of the first things I noticed was the spring seemed stronger than on the old one.
I took the recoil off; it was binding off the saw; turned the spool to get it to release and the spring to pull the rope back in. The rope looks really clean although the recoil case has some scratches where it would be against the ground; wondering if the rope could have been replaced. Maybe MasterMech could give some insight on what to do now?
I was wondering if there was a replacement rope on it and may it is too large a diameter rope? Is the rope the same size as the one on your old recoil?
I think so, it is a white rope with orange stripe; isn't that the Stihl rope design? You can see it in the photo I posted earlier.
Yea it looked like factory rope, but stihl will have several sizes of rope for things like small saws and trimmers and the big saws will be a different size as well
I don't have anything to measure with; there is a micrometer around here somewhere but I have not seen it in years.
