So I got to run the new to me MS241CM for a while yesterday. I put it's 4th tank of gas in it, my first. Ran great, and acts like it needs ran to waken up. I was only clearing fence rows, did fell a few 10-14" trees. In between uses I noticed a half dollar size pool of bar oil on the bed of my truck. Took it apart and cleaned some saw chips out, everything seamed fine and wasn't visibly leaking. Ran it a few more times still had a little oil come out while sitting, but nothing like the first time, but compared to my MS362 that has no leaks seams like some things off. Ideas?
Unless it keeps leaking well after your done cutting, it could just be oil running off the bar and from under the cover. Especially if you were cutting lots of small diameter branches and stuff. I can bury a saw in wood all day and keep it fairly clean. Cut up a bunch of limbs or pallets, etc and its a mess.
I never thought about it like that, I was trimming a cedar and some brushy stuff before I noticed it, the once I knocked over some big stuff it seemed to go away... just had flash backs to the pos big box store Poulan days and oil every where. Thanks!
I doubt that will be a problem. I am with MasterMech on this one. Does the 241 have an adjustable oiler? If so, maybe turn it down if your are limbing. Then crank it up if you are bucking some decent sized trees.
