    A 20" bar on a MS460 or MS461 is a spiritual experience! :bug:

460 or 461 is my dream saw but I'm just going to put the 79 cc kit on my Makita 6421

    That's a pretty decent cure for wanting a 460/1.

What is the biggest bar/wood you will be cutting.....I like the 50cc saw and the 70cc saw plan.....I had a 362 and a year after I got the 461 I sold the 362, and I loved the 362 if that says anything.....I just didn't use the 362 anymore so I sold it.....I use a ms250, 024, or the 026 for wood up to 18".....when the wood gets 20" and bigger I grab the 461....I absolutely love the set-up I have now!!!!

I have had the 461 with a 25" bar for over a year and I haven't found anything I can't cut....I have buried the barn in oak, ash, hickory, maple, and it doesn't slow down....

If you rarely need a 25" bar, I have heard guys use them in the 362....I personally only wanted a 20" on mine, but it definitely would have pulled a 25"...

I should add that I sold the 362 in anticipation of buying a ms261, but I haven't gotten to it yet!!!

I cut wood nasty, knarly, hardwood butt ends like this all the time, she loves chewing them up....this is how she got broken in LOL!!!

Had another dealer quote me 949 on a 461 with a 25 inch bar. That is a pretty good deal. If he can work it up to get me out the door for 950, I doubt I will walk out empty handed.

The 460 will be dreaming about the lunch money it lost. 7900 is a serious work horse in the 70-80cc range.

I dont care for the the feel of that saw while felling but there is no arguing the performance.

That's about what I got mine for. Same bar length.
It usually pays to shop around.

I apologize if you felt I was nitpicking Mike. I believed your post to be accurate information. Actually was interested in a full wrap offering from Stihl.

The 260/261 460/461 combo is also my perfect set up. Although I have other saws, I don't need or use them. The 260 is light enough to limb/trim all day and has enough power easly buck up to 18". I perfer a 25" on the 461, but also use a 32" when needed, it handles the 32" just fine.

The only possible reason I could think of needing any other saw would be if I run into a ton of 40"+ stuff and I dont see that happening

He's catching an entirely different but related disease. Ported Saw Disorder.
