Well sure... What I WANNA do for work is nothing. Just ride dirt bikes all day. Lol. Not so sure that's possible. Plus it might get kinda boring or at least that's what I'm gonna believe for now. Currently I'm doing flooring. Hardwood, laminate, snap together, glue down, carpet squares, tile and showers. Have been a factory trained Chrysler mechanic and have also done landscaping/lawn mowing. Not so sure what my calling is but that's what I'm gonna be looking for. I've had this weird idea for years about being a preacher/pastor but have no idea how I'd even begin getting there if that's what God wants. I figure He'll lead me as long as I listen. I'm usually open to learning new things so I don't think it'll be too terribly hard to find a regular job. With selling this house I'll make a good bit above what I owe. My hopes are that I'll be able to buy a small piece of property and build a house barn to suite my needs. Then live rent/mortgage free. Don't need much of a job to support that but my other hopes are to start contributing to my retirement substantially.
HR the SW mountain would generally be thought of as the sierra’s . Arizona is not flat Prescott is over 7,000 feet
Destination still unknown Some packing materials finally made here tonight (only took 3.5 weeks ) Guess I'll start with non essentials, books, photos, photo albums and fragile wall decore , right? Unreal he says he doesn't want to take 40+ years of tools. Sure drill and screw drivers and hammers but not others like skil/miter saws, sawzall (yes, this is quite old and on last leg), saw horses and on and on, all kinds of ratchet stuff etc. I'll try to find a resource for things we're not taking (like tools) to get them into other's hands instead of the dumpster.
Also, we've not rented since 1991. Holy cow, when we bought the 1967 Detroiter mobile home in 1991 we went to town on it. Not even sure we'll have a garage for tools where we move, nor sort, pack, pay for moving, nor unpack. Most importantly he said he does not want anymore home repairs or remodeling. I get it, fixer up trailer (turned out awesome), addition on little red cabin and many repairs/upgrades (turned out awesome). Here, he just ran out of steam and time, I'm still on subfloor in my bathroom with no sink, not a big deal compared to his working/water hauling/pellets/wood etc., compounded with me not able to do it too like I used to. I understand.
The new to us Yukon has luggage racks! Can anyone suggest how to properly protect what we put up there, for wind/rain/etc. ? Rubberized tarp material bags keep coming up in my searches but I'm not confident they won't shred after 2000 miles of highway speeds. Plus pita for WWW to bring in for 2 or 3 nights in hotel during the trek.
Thanks B, I took a peek at them, I'll get my behind out to the truck tomorrow to measure inches beween the luggage rack rails. Budget like the price of soft cases rather than invest the hard case.
Any ideas on moving hunting mounts? No time to crate each one as moving company requires and not in the budget to pay for them lol. I saw someone rented a little Uhaul trailer and screwed up 2x4's to hang them, but the post was over a decade old, curious if there's still wood to use inside for 2x4 and husband already said he doesn't want to tow anything for 2000 miles.
He wants to bring our refrigerator. Umm, it was only $800 to begin with, and one will be in new rental. Idk.
Thoughts on strapping sterilite totes to roof instead of cargo carrier? I bought some 17 gallon ones so should not be so heavy to move into hotel while on the trek there.
Would probably be fine, but I'd probably want to cover them all with a cargo net or something like that...make sure they don't go anywhere. Might let rain blow in too, so maybe not good for items that need to stay 100% dry
They were not cheap, I'll use them for the mover's instead. Just need to find something to compartment things up there for 2+ nights in the hotel where WWW will be bringing them in overnight so they don't get stolen. Also the way wind works silt and snow through the walls here is impossible, I imagine being on the truck roof for thousands of miles at high speeds could do the same like you mentioned rain could.
If we can secure a home rental before he leaves in a couple weeks we could put a bunch of mounts in the back seat of my truck. AND, I'll secure our 1997/8 (?) ficus tree in the bed. He whacked off the top 3 feet of it to fit in the moving truck to here in 2014 and it did fine. Bag and wind rope around the crown that will be tucked under the steel lockbox and strap the large pot so it won't roll around. *if* securing a leased home hopefully happens he can just unload them directly into house rental.
24-48 hours A new job change of life is a red flag to owner/prop manager IFF mid life crisis is not generally a stabilizing force in life choices, if you can talk to someone if would be helpful
