That silver maple I have up on the porch just isn't cuttin it with the cold so I brought up a skid of mulberry. Had to move a few skids of ash out of the way but those will be up to the porch next when I'm through with the silver maple. Will be burnin the maple during the day and mulberry at night. Had a little helper enjoying the tractor ride. I was hoping to get the skid right on the porch but couldn't reach high enough so I just threw it off. But that means I have an empty skid to stack the locust and pear I have split.
Knew that was coming. Winter snuck up on some areas. Need the good wood a few weeks earlier than normal. Great helper there , with a good warm work hat I brought in the good stuff too, I'll burn birch for day time, Then I'll burn birch for night time
Next year I get to play that game. Got about 1 2/3 cord of mulberry and white ash set aside, this year it's a potpourri. Been finding a bit of black walnut mixed in, that has been nice. Doesn't burn hot, so to say, but it does have longevity!
I got into my Mulberry during this cold stretch too. Wasn't happy, was saving it for Jan. Unfortunately Dec has been Jan weather.
Started blowing through way too much of the Oak, so I moved up some more Maple and then replaced some of the Oak as well. Using the Maple day, and a mix of both overnight, unless it's super cold (like it's been). Our temps are back up for the next few days........WooHoo! Oh yeah swags, great helper, and she looks happy about it to boot.
