More splitting done on the log pile

It's only money.

 

I figured everything was free dave as all I do is tap my card and not open the monthly statements.

 

So, I went out on Monday and pulled out a few Red Maple from the log pile and bucked 'em up on Thursday. Today was splitting day, and I got this small batch of rounds done and stacked.

 

This stack of Maple that I did last year is where it ended up going.
I'll need to get a pic of that when I go back out.
The idea is to get the better logs processed first if possible. I used a tow strap hooked to the Jeep hitch ball to pull out the logs. Worked pretty slick. but I had to put it in 4-low.....couldn't get enough traction w/o doing that. Walked the logs right on outta' there like it was nuthin'.

 

All done. I cut up and split the branches too. Much better.
Next is to continue refilling the woodshed.

Ended up looking into Kajiji dave and found this solid little trailer just down the highway 10 minutes lined it with 3/4 and it does take a pretty good chunk of wood.

$85 all in.

 

Beautiful. I'm finding that's about the size I want to deal with anymore. Maybe a couple loads in mine and I'm thinking of calling it a day.

 

I take a lot of breaks So figure its beer time after cutting and filling each load then the 2 minute drive back to the house.

 

Liking this little guy dave as I found a broken maple yesterday and it took me 35 minutes to go cut it up stack nice in the trailer and get back to the house with it today. 3 beers also.

 

I did 3 loads yesterday into the shed with mine. Quicker and easier than the 5X10' utility trailer.
Split up and stacked some more of the Boxelder pile today too, but forgot pics. I know,.....I'm fired.

 

I did almost a full beer cord between yesterday and today........minus the beer.
So, this is the bit I did yesterday......

 

This is today and what's left of the pile. I may have to trim down a few of the larger rounds. I don't think it'll all fit in this stack, so I'll either start another, or add what's left to the cherry stack farther back towards the trail.
Not sure I'll split more today. Probably move the rest of the Ash that's next to this into the shed.

 

I think once I get the stacks of Ash I'm working on moved into the shed, I'll start splitting all the Spruce rounds and refill those empty spaces. They hinder my movement up and down the drive a bit.
After that, it's back to moving a bunch more Ash. The Ash I'm moving right now was supposed to be done last fall/early winter, but I got too busy with other things.

Figured I'd take the larger trailer today Dave to clean up these broken tree's. Took a couple extra pints Sav.

 

Just for snickers I dragged this dead elm over to the house also.
