More finds from my grandpa's shop

Here's a little back story, my uncle is a hoarder. He has hoarded all kinds of stuff over the years including things from my grandpa's saw shop. He's currently in an assisted living center (severe diabetes) and the township has now decided to have his house and garage demo'd. Dad and i have been digging through the junk before they start to level the place. I was in the basement yesterday for the first time trying to find anything i could from my grandpa's shop. The house is basically collapsing into itself and the basement is verrrry unsafe but i wasn't going to let these things just dissappear in the rubble. Myself and a friend spent about 30 mins in there until the mold pretty much ran us out. But we did find quite a few things!

Great finds, love the Homelite sign. Just one more trip into the basement..........................

 

These oil cans are awsome! I also found a bin of .404 chains that are gonna need a nice long oil bath.

 

That's a Homelite gold mine, keep digging.

 

I remember when Dad begrudgingly bought a homelite after running some green saw for years (don't think it was a Poulan). The saw won him over pretty quick.

 

Really cool. I would brave the mold and the collapsing building and go for more. Like you say, I'd hate to lose it in the rubble.

Unfortunately demo is supposed to start on monday . Don't have time to get over there today but im gonna try and get back in the basement tomorrow. This time with a mask!
We have also gotten some family heirlooms out of some trailers on the property (antique cider press, corn sheller, whiskey barrel, and a couple hand painted wood signs from my grandparents fruit and vegetable stand)

 

Did they only give y'all like 72 hours? I'm sure there is all kinds of stuff worth money. Sure there is PR Olly 2 roll offs of junk bit not everything can be household garbage clothes and pizza boxes. I bet there is several thousand pounds of metal at least. Seems like y'all could get 30-90 days or something g if you appealed and showed u were cleaningup?

 

Basically gave us 30 days. Dad's been hauling the cars and trucks every couple days and we've been going through the trailers for a while (they're packed!). And I've been helping when I can but between work and the newborn I haven't been over there as much as I'd like.

That vise is a great find.

 

It's good you can get some of the better stuff out in time. Funny, all I can think of is all of the "time" your uncle and grandpa spent aquiring all of it in the first place and the stories that would go with them.
