Way to get after it!! I can now see why a logger wouldn't be interested. Those trees will make a lot of nice, easy to handle rounds. I like your "saw kit box". I have the same one only in red! You've got plenty of saw for that job.

I'm thinking she found one of the biggest out there and wrapped a tape all the way around it and a some of the brush too. This pasture is about 7 acres and I made it to just about the half way point. After today I'm glad they aren't as big as advertised since the little Kubota can only do so much. It's moving even the biggest out there easily but much bigger and I'd be getting stuck.

If you look over the tractor in the last pic at the wood lot next door there are some true 35" to 40" trees I'd like to get. Big oaks.

The 250 did good today. No issues other than finding a small piece of metal in one of the trees. Quick chain change and back in business. Easy touch up with a file when I got home and all is good.

Going to limb as many of the dropped trees as I can tomorrow and get ready for skidding next Monday and Tuesday. Going down below zero Saturday and the ground will firm up enough that I shouldn't get stuck.

It's not all that bad, just not nearly as exciting as you might think. Especially if your running the altec/asplundh whisper chipper. My crew hated that thing! They called it chuck n duck. I loved it cause it was build like a tank. It had about 3000 hours on it when I sold it and it still ran like a top.

Yeah if you don't move outa the way you are going home with welts!

Way to get after it today! I doubt you will need anymore than the 250 for that job. Great score!

Yea 250 is all over that job.
Yea if they were all 14" I was going to say thats a lot of work.

If they were 32 that would of been crazy.

Right now I'm glad I don't have only a big heavy saw. Most everything hurts, even the fat. Maybe I should stick to turning wrenches.

My youngest, hurricane Audrey, told me she can't wait to get out there and help. Well, drive the tractor anyway.

I also have a crushed 009 that would be great for limbing but I'm not sure I want to put anything into it yet. Small and lightweight wouldn't hurt as much at the end of the day though.

Looks like a "high production" model!! Also take note not to let anything snag your clothing whilst being sucked in there!

I have an 011 that I love for small stuff. Its a heavy top handle but sure beats hauling a 372 or 650 around!

Poking around on ebay and there are a few 009's that are at around $14 plus shipping. The one I have was running when it was crushed and it's all plastic damage and it has a fair bar and 5 or 6 chains. I might just be building it at these prices.

well done, manageable sized trees so you can cut drag and load a lot quick. I am certain you wanted to get 200 monsters, but this is good and easy stuff right. Good thing you didn't go out any spend $1000 on a saw though.....

A little extra help for loading logs and moving brush showed up today. Just need the temps to drop some to make the skidding less messy. 20160226_154618.jpg

Made some progress today. The logs in the pile are all between 8' & 12' long. The forks help with moving the logs but I don't care to use them for brush and limbs. Seem to do better with the bucket. Not sure when I'll be able to get back out there. Mud is getting deep and its really wet around here. 20160227_145307.jpg 20160227_130225.jpg 20160227_130246.jpg 20160227_142618.jpg
