I hurt my shoulder several years ago, worst main I've ever had. No way to get comfortable when you sleep. Good luck!
Welcome to the flippin' ice club. Sorry to hear you tore the cuff, that one can be a betch. I was lucky and have only been down 8 weeks. Hope you heal up fast. Good luck.
Well the news I didn't want.. surgery its 50% torn , this is going to put a damper on deer hunting JIM
Hated clicking the like on this cause it sounds very similar. I was playing hockey 4-5 times a week with no problems but while coaching my son's team in early January of this year I fell through the un-latched door to the bench and landed on my right shoulder. I though I had broke my upper arm so I went for x-rays. No broken bones but told by er doc it was likely soft tissue damage (sprained). 3 weeks later and I still can't raise my arm so my doctors sent me for MRI in February. Turns out I had partially torn some so of the rotator cuff tendons but completely severed the top one that allows me to raise my arm beyond horizontal. Been waiting for surgery ever since and I just received a call this week from a surgeon who I'll see for the first time on June 9th. I'm looking forward to getting this done and being able to swing the X27 again
Like Rottiman mentioned above, if it's just torn, it does hurt but it will heal with time. I am limited on what I can do because of the severed one but I do find the torn ones do feel better the more I use them. I was told to keep it moving to avoid "frozen shoulder". Do a search on line for some physio exercises to do. Keep it moving but stop if it hurts. Best of luck to you as well.
Man oh man, it happens so fast and takes so long. Best of luck to both of you. I had a partial tear about 7 years ago from a ice flip. Took along time to heal on its own. They wouldn't operate on it as it was not that bad, or so I was told. To this day I cannot throw anything overhand. Take it slow but keep it steady as far as use and exercise.
Sorry JIM, I didn't see this post. I was replying to the first page only . I'm in the same boat regarding hunting....and I'm thinking of starting to practice shooting left handed
Good luck with this Jim. On the MRI, the only way they get me in is to knock me out first. I simply will not go in one awake any more.
I tried that too Jim and got it done once on an open MRI but I found out all open MRI's are not created equal! Some are better than others. I've had 3 done in the last year and all 3 I've have them put me out. It works.
I've never heard of the open MRI. I could have used that as it was a real tight fit jamming me into that contraption
The OPEN MRI aint too open after the scan was over when I went to release the button my fingers hit the top of the tube so its tight, and I'm not a small guy.
I've seen 3 different open MRI machines. I did use one that was in an L shape. I had to lay with my feet at the top of the L and my head at the bottom. All was open to my right; I mean open room. When I laid down, the top of the machine was about 12-16" above me. I did have a towel laid over me and was okay with it but that was many moons ago. I saw two others and refused both as they were not open enough. I had 2 MRI at Sparrow hospital in Lansing, Mi and one in Saginaw at St Mary's in the past year. All those were with me out cold. Had to stay in recovery about 20 - 30 minutes after the MRI but that was no problem. The only way I'll go any more. But if you do some checking in your area and/or ask your doctor, you may find an open machine that will work for you. If so, go for it!
