Stay strong Farmhand. As HDRock mentioned, you go thru some bad time before it gets better. Convince your mind that this is all part of the healing process....................

Sorry I missed this - good luck with everything brother!

I had a minor hip injury a few years ago playing volleyball. I was pretty sore at the time, but it wasn't until that winter when it really started to bother me. I was getting that sciatic nerve pain down the back of my leg and I could barely walk when it would flare up. I went to my chiropractor and I could feel right away that he put something back into place. After about a month I was back to normal. So I know mine wasn't as serious as yours - but I've had a little taste and I know I wouldn't want to be in your shoes...

Get well soon! If you're not feeling like everything's right, have the doc take a look. Hopefully it's normal or something that the therapy will help with! :)

So I've been taking it easy this weekend, and taking my meds as directed... and I gotta say, I'm feeling great! My sciatica was bothering me yesterday, but slowly let up. Only thing bothering me this morning is my foot, so hopefully I'm on the down hill slide!

FarmHand78, I often noticed my mind can start playing tricks on me after surgery. Not saying it's in your head, but in my case my mind started thinking something was wrong when it wasn't. like if school sends home a lice notice your head starts too itch but no lice.

    Good!

It is typical after surgery; remember that it is a wound. A wound usually has swelling and surgery causes that too. The swelling indeed can affect the sciatic nerve and it happened to me after my last surgery. Not fun but sure feels good when it stops. Hopefully all will be well now.

For ~6months after I had the shot I still experienced off/on numbness and sensations in my leg, mostly my foot and Achilles tendon.
the rotation of getting in/out of a vehicle was the worst before shot and I still road around with a frozen bag of peas on my back.
The level of nerve damage you have/had will take up to a year or more to heal

So today marks the first day in quiet a while that I was able to put in a full day at the officed:thumbs:

My attatude about the surgery is totally different then a week ago when my pain came back. Also understanding that things get worse before they get better, and my recovery might feel like a roller coaster ride helps A LOT!

New month, so a little update....

I was 6 weeks post op on the 27th, day before my birthday:thumbs:... and things are going soooooo well. I really feel back to my old self again... but better! I'm still really nervous about getting back to cutting and heavy work, but I guess I'll do what I can until it starts to hurt, then re-group and try again. Lovely Wife and I went to a wedding of some friends of ours over the weekend it was so nice to be able to sit anywhere I wanted, or stand, and best of all I was able to dance with Lovely Wife!!! It's been over a year since we danced last, and we cut it up! I am an awesome dancer after a few:cheers:.... even better after a bunch!:drunk:<- that's me on the right lol!

Again, I really want to thank everyone here that offered advice, experience, and well wishes.... really truly helped me more then I could ever explain!

Right where I want to be.
I'm an awesome sitter when it comes to dancing. Even after a few. I've perfected the technique quite a bit over the years.
Really glad you're back to being gooder than before. Gotta' be a good sign if you aren't sore and achy a day or so after cuttin' the rug.
