I live in the central part of the state and they seem to be going north of here so far as you can see in the link, maybe tonight they will get close. It's really weird some of you are getting snow still.crazy I tell ya. http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?product=N0Z&rid=lzk&loop=yes
Stihl sawing, I hope you made it through ok...... you guys got pounded. Reply asap buddy....so we know your good
It went about 20 miles north of me, so far 6 confirmed dead. It was a big one and stayed on the ground a very long time. We will make the national news tomorrow for sure. Terrible damage everywhere. appreciate all the concerns. I am fine but we can pray for those that aren't. When light hits tomorrow they will probably find more dead.
Glad it missed you. Got your radio, & local warnings sirens ? Got a plan ? Good luck , next few days could be rough.
Glad you made it out safe, Stihl Sawing... Too close to home for sure on that one. Was it the one that went through Mayflower? The weather channel is covering that one. Grizzly - Wow, glad that thing fell that in that direction. I bet that made a loud crack when it hit... We just got quite a bit of rain from both of the two showers that we got, some hard and some good long showers.
We had another round at 4 this morning and supposed to have another this afternoon. It missed us again. but it wiped out several towns. Mayflower was one of them. Villonia is south of me a little and it wiped it out again. They were just recovering from one three years ago. I haven't heard how many dead so far but last night they 6 confirmed dead with many unaccounted for. They think it was maybe an EF4. 1/2 mile wide path in most places.
Sad day... It's 3yrs and 1 day from the one that went from Mississippi through Tuscaloosa and stayed on the ground all the way to NC. They've been backing down on the severity of what will come through here - but I'm still prepared
Stay vigilant guys. This is a terrible time of year for weather, especially in the middle of the night.....
Just took a motorcycle trip this morning and went through a small town called El Paso. Looks like a 1/2 mile swath went through there and left nothing standing. What a mess. Seen a few houses destroyed but mostly woods and old buildings. That would not have been fun to be in. had one come close to us here a couple times. even heard it coming. they do sound like a freight train. but nothing of the magnitude of this one that hit yesterday. Gonna be a lot of firewwod for people in those areas, some huge oaks were blowed over. I was going to take some pics but no place to pull over, here are some from the news.
Thanks for the update SS, and good to see you're fine. Does anybody build a storm bunker that can take those kinds of wind forces? Unbelievable.
They make concrete safe rooms now and most people that build houses have one put in, but they didn't stand up to this one. they are finding them crushed and broken up. These pics are not the worse I've seen, just some I downloaded off of google from this storm. The best and only way to escape an EF4 or 5 nado is under ground. A lot of old homeplaces have those. they still make and sell them too.
