Do you have a scanner? I'm thinking the longer this goes on the better chance the chit will start with stealing among other things.

During the Ice Storm of 98 I helped the police (in a small way) arrest a peeping tom in our neighborhood, I heard it on the scanner when the police were chasing him toward our street on foot so I went out the front door, I saw a guy leave the street running behind our neighbor's house with the police chasing him, I ran off our porch across the road which forced the jerk back under a tree where the police caught him. The police told me thanks even though they would've of caught him and then when I was walking up the steps I could hear the jerk screaming..... I think someone was dealing out some tough love.

It's always nice that you can help even in small ways. At least they weren't after you...that time.

Our scanner is on from the time we wake up to bedtime. A lot of good info goes to the police from scanner listeners in this rural area. The provincial police in this area DO NOT like the fact that people are listening. Yesterday we had a drug head hold up a pharmacy in a small town nearby at knife point. They got involved in a chase and he bailed on them. They spent the day looking for him and finally packed it in. The area was thick bush with 2" of snow along the Ottawa River. The dog tracked him for 8 kms. thru the deep snow before he was totally exhausted. Shortly there after some of the locals, hearing what was going on on their scanners, started feeding info into the dispatch which led to them returning to the area where he was shortly there after arrested. Community policing works............if you don't believe that just watch LIVE PD every week.

    DAY 5 (yesterday)

Had frozen pizza for dinner. Lotza Mozza. They aren't too bad, we have been buying the small size and its suits us just fine. Got in 2 walks on Sat and only one bad news phone call. Two good news calls out numbered that one though.

Cleaned up the inside firewood storage and split up some cedar for future kindling. Working on a food list of items that we need/want to get for the next time I'm out.

Yeah, cops don't like others listening. Then again, most people who talk on radios don't. Why a lot are going to encrypted.

And sounds like he brought a knife to what should have been a fun fight...

What is the difference between a scanner and ham radio?
