Had that same problem here a few weeks back , in the garage chewed a hole in the plastic trash can I keep Maggie's food in I thought it was a chipmunk we had seen one running through the garage early.
I have this old dresser I use for storage for odds an end's looking for something I pulled open one drawer and this is what I found :bug: they filled that sucker to the top set the trap with bacon grease took out one a day for a week :rootintootin:
put Maggie's food in a metal can all good.

Those live traps weren't working so well for us last year so I put them away up in our storage area above the garage last winter, I found them this summer, both were full of dead mice!

Maggie goes nuts over Chippie's too , she chases them up the down spouts , and then waits for them to sneak back out , she's taken out a few of them that way usually she just ends up cutting her nose on the end of the drain pipe .
They were mice that met their fate in the trap.

Now if we can train them to do firewood we'd be all good to go!

I got one trapped in my floor joist in the basement where I stapled up some new bubble foil insulation to cover the joist it runs back and forth. I trapped it in there as I spray foamed the hole it came in thru.
So I just wait till it trys to chew out or dies.

Down south they have it worse with bugs. Namely, cockroaches. Not too nice of an infestation of those little brown buggers.

Guess mice aren't too bad compared to them, huh?

Funny that when we were gone for a few days this fall, we came home to find 6 dead mice in the waste basket I keep in the barn. My wife had thrown a couple walnuts in the waste basket and evidently they jumped in there for something to eat and could not get out. Bingo! I put some more walnuts in after cleaning it out!

I found the perfect mouse trap bait...Tootsie Rolls! Pinch off a lil piece, roll it around in your hand to soften it, work it onto the bait holder (victor style trap) and unless you have the trap in a real warm area, that is the last bait for the year unless one of the dirty buggers comes along and strips it after his buddy "bites it". I usually find 'em in the exact same position...teeth just starting to sink into the goodies...BAM!
