Nice finds man! My oldest dated object so far is an 1896 token. I'm thrilled to have made the 1800's but your 1845 capped bust really takes the cake.

Aw man, she's in real nice shape ain't she. I stumbled on an old homesite and she popped out of the ground there, along with a shield nickle, and a bunch of indians. I live in a good detecting area, lucky me!

Scotty. Make sure you install the heat in the floor. Even if you don't plan on doing it, put the tubing in anyway. Then you can add it when you realize you should have installed it in the first place! LOFL:thumbs:

I can attest to this. I went swimming with my wife and kids at a beach one day. We were playing in the sand, frizbee, putting sun tan lotion on, swimming, and just having a great time. Then I came out of the water and realized I was no longer married. Wooooo whoooooo! :DI mean.  :emb: WAIT. Kidding. :emb: Reality. Oh. No. :( I lost my wedding ring. :(

I think I need to get a metal detector for searching my property. It would make a good hobby. And I could teach the kids as well while I learn.

    stuff like this:

Im just sitting here trying to figure out HOW those coins got there....different countries, fairly old.....and gotta figure they were worth a whole lot more then, from a money standpoint......I mean, what scenario works where that much stuff being in one place and no kid at the time jumped in and got them, etc.....

    dunno....

It does look like a cool hobby, I give ya that!

If the video is legit then must have been a river crossing and a spill while trying to cross.

Or some one dumped them as they were fleeing from a robbery, who knows if its legit how they got there and so many.

Dug this bullet a hundred yards from my house tonight, a very trashy area, I had trouble pin pointing the target and nicked it when I ran the shovel in, how heartbreaking is that? I've found a half dozen or more civil war bullets on 10 acres here, I'm sure there's more. There's a stream through the property, one theory I've developed is that the main stream was contaminated during the battle and the men went upstream on the tributaries to get fresh water. There is also a home that was standing in 1863 not far from where these bullets are being found....cool eh.

It is a great hobby, but is time consuming, and there is a learning curve to learn the machine. I probably have a thousand hours or more on my ATPro.
