messy green slime

I always thought it was zinc you used.

 

I think that both of copper and zinc are supposed to work on roof moss.

 

I have a copper cupola roof and copper weather vane on my shed. The roof is clear below. I know they sell zinc strips to slide under roof shingles with an exposed edge.

 

I have heard the same, never tried it. Or was it zinc?

Edit again: I guess I am slow, you beat me by a couple of hours ...

 

Well I am gonna give it a go. Found a 18" or so chunk of hard copper pipe in the basement and shined it up. cut two chunks about a inch long and tossed one in each bird bath. Then I stumbled across a 5' length of soft copper and plumbed it into the supply line off of the pump in the bath water feature. The rest of the hard copper pipe I plan on setting in the tub bottom. In about a week or two I will fill the tub and see if the experiment works.

 

However thinking on it if I remember correctly in the past I don't remember having to scrub the galvanized small tub at the foot of the water feature. Maybe there is something to this anti algae magic.
