Never think you can clean a clogged up belt on a belt sander....by slapping it.....whilst it's running......with a bare palm.

The second time occurred because once hit by a hammer, fingernails become highly magnetic and attract hammers from even the greatest distance.

Had a guy at work a few years back holding something for another guy who proceeded to miss his target by about two feet and brake the other guys hand with a 4lb. Hammer! One of those I can't believe that just happened moments

It must be because of all that iron rich blood pooling up in the finger.

I built my own house about 13 years ago. We had 2 notable injuries and one minor one. The minor one was me falling through the joists of our front deck and bruising/cracking a rib or two in the process.
My other injury was on a Saturday when I had a bunch of friends helping. My sister-in-law and niece were painting, one buddy was trimming windows, another doing electrical, and a third was laying some tile. I had just gotten everyone working on their projects and I went to complete mine which was installing T&G boards in the loft ceiling. I climbed up the ladder, board and nail gun in hand and proceeded to shoot a finish nail right through my left middle finger knuckle pinning my hand to the rafter! After I yanked my finger off the nail, I wiggled it and it looked like it could bend OK. This was the first time I had so many people to help so I didn't want to leave. I wrapped up my knuckle with paper towel and electrical tape. At 11 pm when everyone had long left and I had cleaned up and put away the tools I called my wife and told her that I was going to the ER for an x-ray. Luckily I didn't hit anything but I still have issues with it.
The scariest one was my dad. He was in his late 70's at the time and he came everyday to help me on the house. This particular day he was using a drill to pre-drill for lagging two PT posts together. The process used a large spade bit to make a c'bore for the lag head, then a smaller bit to drill for the pilot hole. I had a Milwaukee "hole-shooter" with the chuck key attached to the cord with those little rubber key holders. Somehow when he was changing bits he must have hit the trigger and the key holder wrapped around his hand/fingers and drove it into the chuck which essentially ground his hand up. He's on a blood thinner for his heart so there was blood everywhere! It was one of the few days when my wife was there. She was 9-months pregnant after a lot of difficulties just hanging out and sweeping up. We wrapped his hand up and she took him to the ER. When she got there with him, they assumed she was in labor! He ended up with a chit-load of stitches and the 2 weeks he took off to recover were the only days he didn't come to the house and help! I hope I can work like he did at nearly 80 when I get there!
