It did get into the low 70's here today. Not a lot of sunshine but a nice day.

I used to believe that but the more I insulated and air sealed the cooler my home stays. This “solar gain” people speak of is just poor insulation letting heat in during peak sun periods. Then you insulate and your home doesn’t warm up when the sun comes out.

We are burning today. Will be in the upper 70s outside but inside is insulated from that so we need to burn! The average temperatures outside aren’t quite high enough to keep the house warm.

The good news is that we don’t need AC.

My house has pretty good solar gain thru the south facing windows Spring and Fall and to a certain degree in the Winter, but during the Summer the sun is just too high in the sky to do much beyond baking the roof.

No fires here, but been cool. Starting today warming up to upper 80's by end of the week. Of course, can't have a "happy" fire when the stove is still on vacation.

Raining again here, and kind of cool. Don't know if I will burn anymore or not.

Same here, I thought was done 2 weeks ago with the upper 80s we were having in northeast Pennsylvania. I even put the air conditioners in 2 weeks ago. I came home from work Sunday afternoon, and my son asked me if he could get a fire going. He is hardly ever cold. It was 54 in the house, and 52 in the lower level. I am not really one to complain about the weather, because I know there is nothing we can do about it, except deal with it and make provisions for it, such as cranking up the fire, crank the AC, water the garden in the dry periods, and pray that too much rain does not hurt anything.

AC was on early last week.

    Woodstove lit over the weekend.

AC will most likely be on later this week.

    It is what it js.

Lit a fire in the stove Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Monday - sat outside in a T shirt and took a snooze in the sun after splitting some wood.

Both Saturday and Sunday set all time "low" high temps. We broke the old records by around 8-10 degrees depending on exact location. The thermometer on my truck didn't register about 51 either day with rain and no sun. Have never seen back to back days like this so late in the season and I hope I never do again.

We got a half inch of rain on Memorial Day, with most of it coming later in the day. Be nice to get some dry weather for a few days.

It dropped into the upper 20’s here last night. Had a quarter inch of ice on the roof this morning. It’s just a long winter this year.

We finally just got the heat pump replaced last week because we had that week of hot weather and had to open the windows at night to cool the house off. Then as soon as we get the new system in and running I had to fire up the woodstove. We like the warmth of the wood heat WAY better than the heat pump. This one is 20 SEER and very efficient both cooling and heating but the problem with that is: Not only is it a dry heat, it's a cool heat also... the air coming out of the registers is just a couple degrees above or below the thermostat setting. That's partly how they get the higher efficiency on the modulating units. Plus the coils are HUGE...

My wife hates the heat from the heat pump because she can't stand over the register with her flannel nighty filling up with hot air. LOL She would move out without the woodstove.

Right there with ya Canadian border VT. We are lucky if we even get close to 4 months of summer. We usually hit freezing at night until roughly mid June. The freezing nights usually start again in mid to late August. The summer days are usually pretty nice though!

Yesterday I finished a job cutting/splitting wood for a gal. It was 107. 108 today. Overnight is low 70s/high 60s. Glad I finished that one!

I built a fire again this afternoon. Wife ask me to. I probably would not have otherwise. I don't think I have ever built a fire in the stove in June before. Just cool and rainy.
