Can you post some basic specs on the saw for a clueless newbie like myself? What was done to the saw in layman's terms?

    i.e. 10% more HP....

    Bar length?

I don't even know what questions to ask, didn't know you can supe up a chain saw! But I think me wants one! ;)

    Thanks....

Its new old stock isn't it? Don't remember all the carb stuff and all? It has a muffler modd. I would guess that's good for 10% more power at least.

The nice thing about this one is that mdavlee has offered to port it. Can't remember exactly price wise what the offer was. You should be able to go back to find it. But with a port job, these things are known to be pretty sweet.

I looked but cannot find Mike's original post about porting the saw. I'm sure he will be along shortly to clear it up for you.

If the bidding goes above $950.00, I am going to throw in a new Husqvarna Tech Lite 3/8-.058 bar and chain as well as a FHC 'T' shirt. I believe the bar to be 18 inches, I'll check and confirm.

You are correct 20" 3/8 .058 Tech Lite bar and chain. Husqvarna Chain I believe made by Oregon.

    Thanks guys...

So what is the summary of benefits for all these mods?

aka Stronger motor (more hp), longer longevity (better parts), higher rpm' (faster cuts)?

And what would porting do for it? more hp again?

    Sorry for the dummy questions...

The only real mod done to the saw was a DP muffler, which allows the saw to breath easier. This is a built from scratch 372XPW using all factory parts. It had a slightly larger displacement than the 372 74.6 vs 71.4 IIRC. The XPW saws were offered by HVA from 2006-2009 IIRC. They respond quite well to porting, Mdavlee has been quite successful at obtaining performance gains from porting them so too has Mastermind.

Really its off the shelf parts except the muffler if i remember. dont quote me here. Its basically the 75cc version of the 372 built with NOS parts. They havent made this saw in years and its the highly sought after model.

Porting it will make it cut like a 90cc saw. It will be mean. If it were me I would take mike up on the port job for machine and ship costs!!

I agree that porting the saw will give it more 'get-up and squirt' than the stock version of the saw. I see from your sig line that you have an Echo CS-400 saw now (nice saws), it is 40cc compared to the XPW which is close to 75cc. Based on your current saw the additional displacement of the XPW will come as quite a surprize!

Add porting to the XPW and it will really get your attention. Deciding to port the saw or not should be based on your assessment of the saws' ability to meet your needs.

One other point to consider, there is no warranty penalty to pay porting this saw immediately e.g. there is no factory warranty to void. On a brand new factory backed saw you run the risk of having a warranty claim denied during the coverage period if you modify the saw.

    Thanks, appreciate it guys.

Why don't they make it anymore, if it is still highly sought after? Seems like ANYTHING that is any good, is no longer made anymore. I never understand that...! Unless it can't meet emissions standards or something.. ?

The 372 days are short lived I think once the 572 comes out and gets ironed out whenever that is. they still sell the 372 and 365 cause those have been huge sellers for husky!! They dont want to get rid of them as their still huge sellers in the woods.

They make the 576 now a days which is 74cc is available is standard and auto tune variety.
