Well, it didn’t completely wreck any chain, plus I grind so it’s not much work to get it back to shave sharp status anyway. Small 10-12” tree close by had 4 rows of wire in it, almost straight down into dirt. We noticed after discovering it in our tree, so I looked best I could before firing up the saw and lo and behold, hit it on my notch. Oh well. First time having senior citizen noodles.
I'm right there with you on getting out from under trees with dead limbs. Lots of times I'll put a bull rope up and cut till it's almost ready to fall, then nudge it over with the rope when I'm not in the fall zone. Safe is good...
Was at my parents last Sunday splitting up this white oak when the splitters filter came loose enough to blow out the gasket and spray hot fluid everywhere. Guess I’ll add that to my checklist. Got the rest split today and found some of the metal that stained this log. This will likely get burned 26/27 so hope it dries at a quick rate.
Some serious staining there. Only once I cut oak that was like that. Sux about the splitter. Suppose it could've been worse.
