    I just use upside down paint. If you get solvent based it'll stay put for a month or two so you can premeasure/mark and cut later. Looked at mingos, but I tend to cut around crotches and branch spots for easier splitting so just rolling down the log is not always best for me.

    I mark my bar with a red paint marker and when it wears off I remark it.
