Well, I've got ya'all beat, firebox is 5' deep lol. Problem is the splitter will only take about " 26". I cut everything 2' & double stack in the winter to run all nite. Nice jig set up HD.
Nice jig HDRock - The Fireview will accept up to 20", I cut by bar to 16", + or - what I did the night before....usually no more than 18" which is no problem...all wood, all good...
Thats a fair sized OWB there! 26" is more than large enough since you have to pick them up to feed the fire, no? (Save your back)
X2..... usually the result of an "It's got to fit" moment followed by a freshly burning split and a few choice words
Only once did I have to carry a slightly burning piece outside....rather quickly....with someone laughing in the background!
It's amazing how much smoke comes off one slightly burning piece while carrying it outside rather quickly
Not looking forward to it but I'll soon be cutting down some too long pieces. Seems a neighbor wants me to get a wood stack out of his yard but the trouble is, it is too long for our stove... But, we'll help him out. Some will go to another neighbor though who has a OWB and needs some wood.
I started measuring last year. Takes a few minutes and my bars have a little paint on them, but the uniformity is nice. Used to eyeball and would end up with splits from 16 to 25" and everything in between.
I usually lay my saw along the branch/trunk to measure where my next cut is. Having a 16" saw makes my cut pretty consistent.
Longwood dual fuel furnace, bought years back. Diesel beckett burner to ignite, & 5' long round firebox. Was built as an ad on furnace back in the day. I picked it up off C L for $ 250.00 complete I think. 180K BTU max output. I heat 2400sq of auto repair shop with it. Never did hook up the fuel oil burner. It's got decent air control & very rapid recovery which is very important when the 12' doors open & close a bunch in the winter. Not pretty, but it's done a really good job in here over the years.
I can just picture the locomotive door. That's needing a picture sir....unless you have one on here already??

Full load will run the temp control stat for 8-9 hrs with a load of Oak or similar. About 6 with pine or soft maple. She'll crank 130* Degree air out the plenum non stop with no blower cutout for about 4 hrs running at 1/2 throttle. Edit: She's a bit tricky to run at any outdoor temp above 35* Takes a bit of practice to not heat myself outta here in shoulder season.
