I think the 10 speed tranny will be in nearly all f150s in 3 years time. It's going to be in the next raptor that will be out soon.

I sold my F150 today. I seldom used it because it was too hard to climb into. I need something that sits lower. I drove it less than 10,000 in the 7 years I owned it. Still it had 116,000 on it. Rode really sweet. 4 WD. I asked $1500 for it.

I'm on my second F150 3.5L Ecoboost 4x4 SCREW. Traded my '11 on a new '14 last year only because of the awesome deal I got. The one thing people have to remember with ecoboosts is that it's either Eco or Boost. Can't have them both at the same time. I have no problem towing my 26' RV but yes it uses more fuel. However when not towing, I get great highway mileage. Lots of power on tap when needed and/or you want to have fun ;)

Because the turbos engage around 1700 RPM, Ecoboosts have more torque available and over a wider RPM range than the other engines including the 6.2L Raptor.

What some people call turbo lag in ecoboost is actually just the time the transmission takes to down shift when you punch it. A little trick I like to use to avoid this time lag while passing on the highway is to manually downshift the transmission from 6th to 4th before pulling out to pass. You are just manually doing what the truck would do automatically if you pulled out to pass but this is where some people notice a lag. By manually downshifting, you brings the RPM's up from the 1500's into the 2000's (engages turbos) and then punch it and hold on. You can go from 60 MPH to 100 MPH in a real short time....Thank God for traction control.

Having said all that, I really don't think I would use any half ton for any significant amount of snow plowing now a days.

What ecoboost are you referring to? The only one I know of that has a mild amount of lag is the 1.6. The 2.0, and 3.5 ecoboost I've been in had zero lag.

What I know is that some early 3.5 ecoboost power trains had a transmission hunt versus a turbo lag. That has been calibrated out with a reflash, or just subsequent versions of the drivetrains.

Today's twin scroll turbos don't have much if any lag at all, and twin turbo motors typically use different sized turbos to eliminate lag, or twin scrolls in the twin turbos like the v6 ecoboost do.

I drove an edge and an escape and both took a little bit to get lit. Wasn't instant.

Right where I want to be.
    I hate turbo lag.
When we were building the Ford Probe, back in the day, I drove a few with the turbo. Once it kicked in....watch out. Fairly pronounced torque steer.
I hope the newer versions are a little more civilized.

Today's turbo's really aren't comparable to anything from the 90's or early 2000's.

Maybe not, there is a gas leak somewhere. If I filled it up over half full, I could smell gas. I only ran a couple tanks of gas in it last year. Also, there is some "core frame rust that is bad" That was noted on my last inspection. I was right up front with the guy who bought it. He is pleased as a pig in mud. He knows how to fix things. My mechanic advised me to get rid of it. I'm not able to even change a tire so I can't have anything that needs work unless I want to pay.
That truck gave a really nice ride. Just wish I didn't have to use a step stool to get into it. The guy who bought is tall with long legs, He can just slide right in.
