Ours is still 100A...fuses too, although many have been updated to breaker conversion inserts.
Only about 16 circuits on original panel, then a couple small accessory panels added later. I gotta say though, it all works pretty well over the years really...only 2 issues, the one I mentioned in the kitchen, and then one other circuit that has too many recepticles on it...never have trouble with it, but if you plug in a high draw device, it has automatic dummy alert built in

When I bought the place years ago the old lady (built the place in 1940) had 20-30 amp fuses screwed into everything...I went through right away and replaced with the proper size fuse for the wire size...then since updated with the conversion breakers as I said before.

You definitely not the no common sense person I was referring to earlier! I had that same alert and :headbang: many times when I experienced it, especially in barn or garage working on project.. and of course it was always pouring rain! I had added benefit of tracking mud and sawdust etc through kitchen to basement

Years ago I found a fuse box at my grandparents home and it was a wooden fuse box. It was in use. The house was built back in the early 1920's.

Only 2200 square feet; a split level but yeah
    20 x 40 back half full basement 2 stories above (3)
    20 x 20 front half (2) total 5
Think raised ranch type 7 steps between levels

I think they did it cause very room has a south facing window most have east south and west windows. If it’s light outside you know..

if ya want single floor living or no windows NOT your type of house But In North East, it’s easy to heat, iirc some one said Vermont gets as much sunlight as Seattle
