Here are the measurements of my original one from the early 70's, basically 5 x 8 3/4. They were called "20 lb" back then, but mine tips the scales at 23 lb total.

Men were stronger back then. Here's the original "edge" on mine. PHOTO_20140429_172702.jpg And the new edge. PHOTO_20140429_173909.jpg Not as blunt as before. Its raining like cats and dogs so no test. Here's some measurements: PHOTO_20140429_174012.jpg PHOTO_20140429_174032.jpg PHOTO_20140429_174032.jpg PHOTO_20140429_174059.jpg kind of short for my liking. Anyone ever use gas pipe for a handle?

Worked in the woods since I was 17,heavy commercial construction since early 20's.It will cost a bit but thinking very hard about hanging it up at 55,getting paperwork started for my pension. Then working someplace else for less but much easier on the body until I turn 62,since I cant collect it until then anyway. You lose 2% x number of years of early retirement of your monthly pension check. So that would be 14% off what it is now,by leaving 7 years early.

Not a easy decision to make but no way could I still be doing the same job when I'm 62,want to get out before body is totally wrecked....

I would like to be done at 55 as well. Hard to say how things will work out. Got a good job but hard on the body as well.

I bought one of those mauls from tsc..$50...all i can say is.....it sucks!..im gonna grind a newangle and edge on it...it CAN NOT compete with the x27..you can just swing the x27 effortlessly with speed and accuracy...

You are correct the new edge helps but the handle is to short. I don't swing it like a fiskars though. Its more of a throw it up high let the weight come down type of deal.
