Thanks. I ended up with pneumatics for the higher load rating. I have a compressor setup so not much trouble to air up now and then.
So it wast for lack of trying. Tied the fans into the ground light wires to see if they work - they do...sort of. Outside the channel, holding my hand over it, the air flow felt promising. Once installed in the bricks, I put my hand over the output vent...nothing. Maybe it's me, stuck a piece of paper...nothing. Took off the output vent and not even the cob webs are moving. The channel is much larger than I though and must be a funky enough shape to pretty much kill any and all air flow. I'm kinda bummed - I thought it was going to be marginal, not zero.
Then as Kimberly has stated, see if you can source a squirrel cage type fan to fit in that opening. I would take advantage of that opportunity. Where in CT are you? Anywhere near the NE corner?
Sticking my hand into the channel, didn't really feel a temp change. I think figuring out other options might work too, like putting fans in the tops to blow across the top of the stove. I'm in Stafford, north central but east of the river.
I was just being cute; I would take a Husqvarna if Father Christmas decides to put one under my tree. Still, The Beast does like to eat wood.
Haha thanks gang. It's quite an upgrade from the saws I've been used to like a Poulan wild thing and an old Craftsman.
Forgot to post an update on the other 2 issues - the spilt length and air circulation. With the new saw I cut some splits so they'd fit in the stove. Wow, so nice to load up my stove and really get it going. I took a medium size metal desk fan and put it behind the stove in the old fireplace and angled it to blow of the top off the stove best I could. Well we were in business cause my living room was 80 last night! Not the most permanent solution but certainly functional.
Just wait till the thing breaks in after about 8 or so tanks go through. I have its bigger brother the 562 and that thing went into an angry beast mode the last few times I hade it out! It is ripping through bar length oak without any hesitation! You will love that saw for sure! Congrats!
Hey if it works it works, thats all that matters. Definitely a great fix until you come up with a better solution!
I find myself looking at this picture and wishing I was out cutting. Need to start hoarding some wood that's not already C/S/S
Cold here today. Need to cut some more splits after work today. Anybody have any good ideas on how to efficiently cut splits to length? (Beside before they're split haha)
