Guess I’ve gone AWOL for a bit. Thanks to my buddy Woodsman, now back in the wood.

Have a bunch to cut, split and stack for next year. In the mean time, burning the maple from “maple mountain” earlier in the thread.

2 more rows, about a cord, maybe 1 ½ before the maple is all gone. Won’t miss that twisted stuff. Although I do have more coming from a friend that had trees taken down. Thankfully not nearly the size as what I had before.

That’s Brad. He says he’s in Southern CT but there are a lot of disappearing roadside piles of wood all across the state lately. Pretty sure he’s the culprit. One minute he’s over by the RI boarded scrounging some oak. Next minute he’s up here in the hills scoring personal cut rounds deliveries with Asplundh crew chiefs. Soon after that he will appear at a roadside locust down near the shore before its even been marked to cut ... he can just sense it’s fate and has plans to add it to his wood yard. :saw: :woodsign:

Im in North Haven. Asplundh has been cutting within two miles of me in the last three months and ive been having a field day. That RI border stuff was a day i went cutting with Ctwoodtick. Plenty here to go around. Either of you guys want a PU full of red oak? C'mon down. Where are you located?

Nice! I’m up in Stafford (NE) Gypsy moths did a number on the oaks in my area and now the EAB. Lots of firewood but CT is just getting some mature trees under her belt again.

Dad texted me this week that a bunch of trees were dropped along the road on his property and plenty of it. Have the chain a good sharpening in anticipation the other day while having my morning coffee. Man that 550xp rips. Still very happy with that saw.

I haven’t been scrounging in awhile due to my initial 3yr catch up when I bought the house plus I’ve got a pile of trunks from trees I took down at my place so I’m a little backlogged. On top of that, my dad had a bunch of massive oaks taken down so he’s buried in oak to the point he’s telling me to take some. So I’m in a good spot but...

Sometimes it’s fun to go work for it and run the saw a bit. Loaded up the Mrs and Little Man to visit Grammie while I cut and loaded the truck. I keep all my cutting gear in a milk crate and forgot to bring the fuel can of mixed but did bring the two 5gal empties I needed to refill. Good thing I filled the tank last time I had it out. A little rusty I suppose haha.

Mostly while oak in this load. There are two more stacks like the one I worked on today. Some most of been standing dead because it was pretty light and dry.

Before and after pics of the truck

Something about roadside wood scrounges, they are so enticing! Maybe because they are here today and probably gone tomorrow. Looks like you had fun!
