Your're right about that. The perfect size to to c/s/s/, I love working working with wood like the that, the goldilocks like kind. Not too big, not to small, perfect!
That's a beautiful stove there, same as mine. I estimate I've put about 180 cords through it since 1983. Of course mine needs a paint job, one of these days.......
I said the same thing to my dad yesterday about it being the perfect size. Now the trunks did get to be a little over 16” diameter, probably no more than 24 at the wedge so those were rolled to the stack, not carried haha. As to the stove question, lots of good info on the site, mine came with the house and I won’t change it unless it breaks something awful. Sounds like I have some catching up to NH
I Got the Husky 545 (detuned 550xp) with a 20" love it to the moon and back. Perfect size, well balanced firewood saw. Get a full chisel chain and it cuts like butter. Congrats on the new home no better feeling.
I’ve been running an 18” and there are times a 20” would be nice. Doesn’t seem to be more than the same can handle.
And with that, the last of the previous home owners wood is in the deck and will be gone by the weekend. Surprised it lasted this long however last winter was a light burn season with the pregnant wife. Need to test some of my maple from when I started my own hoarding. Was trying to get to 3 years but it might have dried enough by now.
This week we started burning maple splits that I scrounged a couple years ago. Photos from Maple Mountain are in the beginning of this thread. My dad has my moisture meter so I don’t have a reading but it’s burning great and very satisfying! It was also the fuel for my first batch of maple syrup this season.
I remember what you got that maple. Beautiful stuff. Glad you’re on the board for some finished syrup, too.
A sad day has come. Somehow my place and its many ash trees have avoided the EAB until now. Saw signs on some of my favorite trees
