P61a definitely likes the Matras. Has a nice clean lip and is putting out some good heat. Since my stoves are still on room temp/auto The only real way I can tell about heat is if I use less pellets.. Did not clean the stoves before putting in the Matras, so ca't tell about glass either.

P43 is almost to the Matras. It has gone thru 1.5 bags since yesterday morning so should be getting to them shortly. Actually, some may be mixed in witht he last of the MWP's as the ash lip seems to be less than usual.

The P43 fired up as I was writing that last post. Just walked by it and H*ly Chit, those Matras are definitely burning thru now. That is one hot air stream! If I was drying my hair, I would be standing well back. Will find out later this morning and report on that ;)

Good deal Bogie and they are without a doubt my favorite pellet and should be for any Harman owner as they do not leave that dang Mustache at all just some minor residual ash on the burn pot but very little and does not affect the burning. Give your stove a good cleaning and if you burn only Matra's I bet you could go a month or more without having to clean it, these pellets are simply amazing .
I don't know but maybe its because I use constant burn but with most other pellets that is what drives me crazy is the ash building up affecting the burn which pushes the flame forward and buggers up the glass and does not allow for a hot efficient burn.
Glad to hear you have some
    (edit)
Just read back in the post doh certainly worth the travel and glad you scored some !

Its been creeping up already started at $289 - then $299 - then $309 well worth it as you are getting DF performance for $40-50 less.

So I decided to clean the stoves. Not a deep clean - everything but exhaust though. I did look down the throat of the exhaust, and at the exhaust probe, to make sure they were pretty clean. The P43 - this is the top temp with an oven thermometer (not the best method - but it's what I have.

    P43 temp 37 minutes after start-matras-top temp.jpg

The thermometer sits on top of the door and is partially in an air stream. Still has room for cooler air to bet behind it, so not exactly scientific. Also, that top temp was reached as it was ramping down to shut off (it's running on a thermostat). It only had to raise the main floor a couple of degrees since it is nice and sunny with only a light breeze - so it wasn't ever working very hard.

Just got done cleaning the P61a, and it just started up 10 minutes ago so will get temps off it later.

Washed my hair when the P43 started up. Drying my hair was an adventure as I had to stand w-a-y back from the stove. Here is my (not so) scientific calculator:

Oakie Plats - Stood 2 feet from stove to dry my hair. Almost bumped my head a couple of times
TSC MWP blends - Stood 32-36" from stove (let's just call that an even 3'
Matras - stood 4 feet from stove and was sweating up a storm. Can't get any further back because of furniture. The adventure part; standing on the floor register in bare feet and trying not to trip over the end table behind me.

I'm impressed. Pete Zahria Tell Henry I wish I wasn't so far away. I would be happy to buy a couple of tons of these at the price he has!

These really are the best new product around, and I concur with the comments above. The lack of ash build up in the burnpot (or at all, really) is the best part. They are every bit as good as the DF products sold around here, and at a MUCH better price point. Plus they smell great to boot, like a freshly cut pine tree in a bag. I hope they remain available around here for many seasons to come.

That is certainly one thing that I noticed/liked... absolutely.
The flame just looks better, longer.
I got no burm (moustache) in 2 days, and that was 3 bags.. with the setting on 2.
Which as Luney pointed out.... keeps the glass clear.

My glass doesn't really get that dirty no matter what I burn once I start burning 24/7. I last cleaned it Dec. 1st and it's not that dirty.

Share Subby whats your trick as it seems that it is inevitable with most pellets ?
Now the exception is with these Matras and seems the funky T&D that I got on a whim, while they don't match the heat output the do match the ash output. Even the DF I reluctantly got cause a mustache and bugger up the glass while to a much lessor degree eventually they do it , these are NW green bag DF's
