Bur oak is a variety of white oak. Look at those nicely rounded tips on the leaves.

LOL I am well aware of that. The wood is so close to White Oak some times its sold as White Oak to cabinet makers.

I love the BL, but cold starting a stoveful is a little like lighting coal. I've got the space to let white oak dry, so it gets my vote. Pulling for Wisconsin tonight...

Cold starting a stove with Oak is no picnic either, much better woods for that.
    Wisconsin for me also.

Still bummed that red oak lost, but it's hard to vote against black locust.

Poor is the man with ONLY black locust to burn, for he must never let the fire burn out.

Yep, I'm getting ready for bed so I wanted to wrap it up. The first four days were the ones that took up a ton of time!

Boo!!!! An oak should have been the champion. And I prefer the red variety for an all around great processing and btu content.

I hated to see your guys fall tonight. That's a special team that made a great run. Stopped us right in our tracks, 38 other teams couldn't do that.

I only hope your guys and fans represent your school better than ours did after a tough loss.

Edit: I shouldn't say 38 teams, 38 attempts by various teams.

Yeah...that guy should have declined comment instead of his remark. I'm disappointed for Wisconsin, but a great effort either way.

100% agree. And the fan response in Lexington was atrocious.

I think our fans and definitely our team is classy enough not to do stupid stuff. I'm sure some things will happen on the fan end. But hopefully nothing too extreme.
