    Thanks Flamestead

Mines going to be set back a bit more into the fireplace but pretty much the same.Does anyone know if there is a minimum length that the tee snout is to be? Probably going to have to cut mine down.

Tomorrow is the day. Off to the polls first thing and then headed to pick up the Jotul. Going to have to stick into the barn for now though. Have a lift reserved for the 23 to get the liner in.

There are supposedly 2 air holes down near the sides of the ash pan that keep the stove ripping hot. This was done to pass the emissions test. People said they have put magnets on the holes to block the air and it runs way more controlled

Thanks. I did read that thread over on another forum. Hopefully I have a good experience with it. You just never know how much of what people post you can trust. I’m sure there were some issues but who knows how much of that could have been self inflicted. Jotul has been around forever with a good reputation so hoping if issues arise it will be taken care of.

If it has the "boost air" holes then covering those (or at least partially) can make a big difference in how well you can control the fire

Got the damper and frame removed yesterday. Haven’t done that in about 12 years, totally forgot how much fun it is! There was about 18” of ash/creosote/bricks and other debris on the smoke shelf so cleaned that out too. At least there is a lot of room in this one, I was able to stand straight up into the chimney to clean smoke shelf. Going to work on getting water stained brick cleaned up a bit more and have to make some sort of lid for the ash clean out. Anyone with tips to get the bricks cleaned up? I was using vinegar and water, seems to work ok but slowly and you have to flush it a lot so there is tons of water making a mess.

Went down fireplace store and bought a bunch of parts I think I’ll need. I’m sure I’ll be making another trip on the day of install but it’s not a good job if you only have to run for parts once!

Have some help lined up this weekend. Getting closer.

I believe that is what it is. The frame was totally rusted from years of leaking so I took the door out for now. I’m pretty sure they still make them so I’ll be looking to replace that.

Install went pretty smoothly. Having a 18x13 flue makes it quite easy to drop a liner down. Much easier than the 7x7 at my old house. Wasn’t able to use the tee as it was too long so for now it’s top vented with two adjustable 90’s. I have to find a shorter tee with a crimped end that attaches to the stove. Can still take it apart for cleaning the way it is but will be a bit more difficult.

Just above the top 90 is appliance connector going into the flex liner. Tomorrow I’ll stuff the chimney with safe n sound rock wool and fashion up a block off plate.

Wow, nicely done! Do you have a fan on the back of stove to push the heat into the room? Or relying on the brick to radiate it?

I have nothing yet. Early stages of seeing how this goes. The stove sits proud of the opening about 8 inches and it’s a very radiant stove from the little I’ve burned it so far. Hoping I don’t need a fan but we’ll see. Jotul also makes a blower for this stove but it’s :makeitrain"

Got rhe old ash clean out from the fireplace foamed and sealed up really well tonight. Block off plate and insulation for the chimney next, probably after Thanksgiving.
