Just got one from Armslist. Decent buy at $150 w/ a tasco 3-9x40 scope on it. Does anyone have one? Whats the good bad and ugly of these things? I really bought it for the GF since she says my 10-22 target model with the bull barrell is too heavy (even off a rest)! I have to believe there will be more .22's coming out of closets and for sale since people cant get ammo for them.
My Dad has an older one. I can't remember the year, 60s, maybe early 70s. Was the first gun I shot. Fun gun. .22 ammo harder to find, but its still quite available
Well, that didnt last long. Guy texted me while driving there and said he had a better offer. I hate people like that!!!! GRRRRRR.
Bummer . I have had both the marlin 60 and ruger 10/22 . Now that Im older and my figures have less movement...I would rather load through the tube mag of the Marlin !

I've got 3000 rounds of 22lr in an ammo box and currently nothing to shoot it with, so I'll keep my eyes open then.
Yep...I waited in line with a friend who doesn't shoot to get more than the limit. My stash is now approaching 10k rounds.

Yes. They are very nice. The last 22lr I owned was a Marlin Gold Trigger 39A, a similar rifle. An elderly women had given me an ancient octagon barrel Marlin 39 on which all the blueing had worn off, just to get it out of her house. She was terrified of "those things." I researched the serial number and it was a 1921 model. These were made before 22 high power rounds and the bolt could not tolerate the modern 22lr pressures. A friend here has a gun shop and he traded me even up for a brand new Marlin 39A Gold Trigger model. I've had several 10-22s, a bolt 22, the 39 and 39A and a couple revolvers. I'm just 'between' 22s at present. I'm looking at semi auto pistols right now.
I have a model 60, but yours looks to be in better shape. I picked mine up around 10 years ago for $75. Mine has a tendency to pull the FTE trick on me more often than I'd like, but that seems to be specific to the ammo brand. Never have a problem with Winchester white box, but I get a FTE about 3 out of 10 times when shooting Blazer.
I got one. Has no housing left on the barrel was "cleaned " by my cousin with steel wool and is rust speckled. Still can shoot the bulls eye out of a target at 25 yds though and at 50 if u take your time. I remember when you could get them at gun shows from $50-80 all day long. And at walmart for about what u paid new. And this was leas than 10 yrs ago.
My first gun was a model 995,7 round clip fed, and I still have it. My buddy had a 10/22 and I liked the feel of his better. Marlin must have made a gazillion model 60s and variants of them so Im sure if your patient you will find another good deal. As a little side note a coworker died about 5 years ago and his best friend was cleaning out his house and found a big box of model 60 parts. He asked me to build a gun for him to remember his friend. I put a nice one similar to the one in your pic. Then with the leftovers I built another oddball for myself. I need a few more pieces to complete it but I have something to remember him by too. Maybe now that Im thinking of it Ill get it ou and see what it needs.
