I have 2 logs in this cherry load I brought home that look different and are much heavier, anyone know what they are. Some type of maple? Im seperating woods by seasoning time so just trying to get an idea.
It’s a maple with cross breed here IDK for sure but suspect sugar that’s 2 Vermonters sugar maple state tree I would run with it here 2 years seasoned good to go
Thats what I was hoping to hear. I've cut red and silver maple before but never sugar. Ill mix it with the black locust and red oak for 2 year supply. I've been seperating white oak for 3 years out, and ash, cherry, poplar and silver maple for next year's mix.
Sugar is as much better than red. As red is to silver or swamp maples meaning a low BTU hard wood. The proof is in the hardness of wood, sugar maple is aka rock maple
Has a sugar maple look to it. Post more pics when you split it to confirm. Highest btu's of all the maples. It will dry in a year. Ill take it over oak any day.
