Maple?

Can anyone tell me what kind of wood this is. I was told maple by the tree cutter but it does not look like the maple we usually get around here. It's been seasoned about 12 months. (Cord mixed with birch). Thanks

 

Looks like it could be red maple, sometimes referred to as swamp maple.

 

I recently asked a similar ID question for the same reasons. Everyone said the same as jrider - that it looked like red maple.

Not sure red maple grows in Wa state and the red tint is weird. Also the lenticels are more indicative of alder or even some kind of populus.

 

I remember it having green bark when it was first cut and none of the pieces were probably no more than 8or 9" diameter. Wood is too white for the alder we have around here and weighs too much to be poplar.

 

it does look like red maple to me
