I had to change gears since the neighbors have visitors and the driveway is jammed. Decided to split the first pallet of ash and then that makes room for *some* of the maple. I think I have about 3-4 cords hoarded... and I don't even have a stove haha. I need to call a chimney place...
I have grandkids. Nuff said. Ok, not nuff. They musta watched that about a bazillion times, and I got to "share" the experience.........almost every time.
Great, now you have some nice ash and some red maple to go with it. Just a little hint here. That red maple is one of the fastest drying woods there are. In addition, it splits really easy if it without knots. It is also what we usually make our kindling wood from as it makes excellent kindling. Why? Lights really quick and easy plus burns hot to get the rest of the woods started. But do keep it top covered!!! It can turn punky really fast. Not as fast as popple but still turns fast.
I spent the weekend splitting a pile of ash. Today, I am moving the mountain of maple. Holy cow, wet green maple is HEAVY! Since I have to haul it 40-50 feet up a steady grass incline to my Jeep I have to make the wheelbarrow load lighter than I normally do. One load picked up and dropped off so far, lunch then back at it! Pics to come.
Just got done with load two, which was much heavier. My neighbor's have a bump at the end of their driveway, and my fenders rubbed in the back haha. I took pics, but have to sit down at the computer later to upload. Greg it says Team No Sleep, I got it as a freebie when I bought some Dwayne Wade sneakers. I am on team sleep lol, but when it comes to opportunity like free firewood I don't sleep. I leap!
Great question WW! Mothers side Danish and Italian, Fathers side goes back to pilgrims and then a blend of stuff in the UK. I am related to John Putnam, and yes my daughter has eyes like mine as does my sister. They change color too, and I forgot the fancy term but my eyes are blue with a golden brown ring around the pupil.
Ok, here are the pics! I have made four trips across the street to get the maple, and I tried to take pics of the progress... I missed a pic of the third load so please forgive me. LOL! I was tired and spaced on the pic until I was halfway unloaded, well I was not about to put all the wood back I my Jeep for a pic! Soooo, use your imagination for load three.
I bet it took some effort to get those big ones in there. A pickeroon would make them a lot easier to get out.
The pile growing at my driveway. I decided due to weigh of this heavy green maple that I would process it from here. Already split some but you will get pics of that tomorrow.
