Beetle-Kill after I got the saw home and finished up some chores around the house, I called HD customer service
Told my tale and the store number involved in dragging it out for 5 weeks with no sale.
They said they'd contact manager and share and more importantly gave me a $50.00 e card
That brings the price down to around the $275 the other store had.

Horkn the price is a little flexible in each store, I've been told.
Get this the original store I was dealing with still has the saw for sale but since it's another month gone by the price dropped to $253.00 .
I think someone working there will buy when price drops low enough.
If you go to the web link on page 2 and type in zip 11746
Scroll down and you'll see saw still for sale.
AND they never once called me over the 6 week period

Only bought 1 my brother wasn't interested in the other one but it sounded great.
Paid $322.00 and with the $50.00 ecard comes to $372.00

Tomorrow I have to find a tree to cut up

One thing I thought was interesting
The used tool rental was not working for several days at the beginnng of the month. I think to re post items for sale
When it started working, that's when I saw the saws.
It showed 2 for sale in a little green box. Next to the saw.
After buying I checked the website and the 2 had changed to a 1 .
So the listings are active and integrated into the stores sales databases.
    Good to know.
The saw I didn't take had HDepot numbers engraved into the blue plastic and one of the nuts holding the bar was replaced with a plain nut without the flair on the bottom
No scratches at all and has a black plastic top. Pic on website showed grey.
Don't know exactly what that signifies
Also downloaded manual into my iPad from their website

The grey top is the 6401, older model. The black top signifies the 6421.

Oh, and fwiw, the 85 cc big bore kits are on sale for like $85 from hlsupply. ;)

    Congrats! You'll love it.

The only big logs I have are some cedar I'm saving to make stuff. It over 20" diameter.
Started with 2 pulls ran strong all the way thru the log no bogging down
HD put a new chain on it. Wondering if my Husky 20" chain will fit.
I usually cut up red oak but didn't want to cut a tree yet. I still have tons to process.
I'm sure it will cut the oak just fine
    Very happy with saw :D

The 20" husky chain you have should fit as long as the drive link count is the same.

    Quick update
I love the saw. tried on some big oak logs and it worked great. Ton of power
Told my brother about it and he checked his Home Depot near work in Albany NY and they had one.
He got it. They just put a new clutch in it and is he ever happy with it!!

    Oh forgot this
The first one I was trying to get is still for sale and the price continues to go lower each month!!
I don't think it exists and they're keeping it on the books
When bought they are immediately removed from the HD web listing!
