Roofing nails id pull as i went. The wood shingle nails a row at a time, then a row of cedar, pull nails, repeat. The cedar came off a lot cleaner and in bigger pieces. Lots of times id remove all the asphalt first, pull nails then remove the wood. I worked alone 95% of the time and just a method that evolved over the years. One of my four layer tears i did completely by myself. Pulled off the roof, installed new plywood, shingled and cleaned it all up. House had a round turret too. Didnt plywood that. Shingled over the old cedar. This was 2006 when i was a lot younger. Doubt id do that these days. As bizarre as it sounds i miss it. I loved my trade and still consider myself a roofer even though most of my work is carpentry related these days.

    Nice!!
Did you put some kind of finish or sealer on the cedar to preserve the natural color?

No finish. Even in the shade it changes color. Keeping it as simple as possible and cheap too.
