My leg is still too messed up from my atv accident 2 weeks ago, but I can't take laying around anymore. So I decided sit on a short bucket and make some kindlin' out of some pine that I split 2 years ago. Doing this makes me want to get splitting a cord of red and white oak I have in rounds, some quartered, but I know it will be too much for the leg, so that will have to wait. I'm happy with what I have gotten done with this though..........

Men always find it hard to follow the doctor's orders of taking it easy. Nice pile of kindling though.

WS, how do feel after doing that?
If you can handle it, just do a few minutes a day.

Grizz- Light duty indeed compared to my norm..... all the rounds waiting to be split were winking at me.

Rookie- I had to get out. I threw in some earphones, sat in the woods and enjoyed the shade.

Woodwidow- yes we do find it difficult, I guess the Big Guy wired us that way..... I took it easy though, don't want to agitate the injury, dragging out the healing process......

Dave- It felt good! The trickiest part was only hooking up the hydros to the grizzly. Positioned myself in a way to keep the weight off the bad leg. When I'm 100%, I plan on splitting 100 cords on a saturday. ;)

Making kindling with hydraulics can really be fun and you can make a lot in a little bit of time. Good for you getting out to do it. It will probably keep you from getting too stiff.

The kindling needs to be gotten, too. I've got some Pine, and I'm going to try some Tulip this year...plenty of small, dead ones around. The few chunks of Tulip I tossed in the stove last year seemed to catch really fast, so I think it will make great kindling.

Vertical split kindling burns better :)

Look like some gnarly stuff in there. It should stack loose, dry fast & burn great !

Nice work W.S., how much longer before your leg gets back to 100 percent.

Today I have felt the best yet! I can't be on my leg for long stretches of time or allow my foot to bend either way very far because it moves this hemotobin, which can be quite painful. But to answer your question, I am guessing another 2 weeks. I have been on light duty at work as well, so things are going well. Was going to take the boat out, but as you know, launching and landing can be alittle labor intensive........so I nixed that idea. I can't wait to get some stuff done. Its starting to drive me nuts!

I've been through the same but with my shoulder in 2002. Speaking of taking out the boat, we did take ours out today but forgot the damm camera.

We only went out for an hour but we did have lunch while drifting in the wind, it was hot out today, I think we had 87 degrees.

Sounds like a good time...... we hit the same temp today in the sun. The woods were cool during the splitting...... it was nice. Did you have a decent breeze on the lake at least?

I suggest before lunch Stinny. I find that after lunch, I can only get half that done with a full belly. :p
