Very cool Mike. I'm between the Southern State and Sunrise close to MCKenna elementary where my 2 boys go to school.
Keep your eye on Craig's list for free fire wood, looks like a lot of people around here are giving it away all the time.

Was thinking I'd make a small shed/covering that would cover 2 skids or 2/3 cord old wood 8' long 42" wide
    Will post pics when done

Ok this took me about an hour today after I fixed my log splitter.
The roof is just laid on for the pic. I have some red metal roofing I'll put on soon and post that pic.
I cut one 12' upright and you can see the leftover shorts.
Used angle grinder to cut welds of center diagonal channel and removed it
Gotta remember to put teardrop cutout facing small end down.
Welded flat metal feet on cut end.
    3 - 8 foot beams 2 in back 1 upper front
Since I'll be lifting across upper beams ,with forks on tractor, I'll add bolts to make sure beams don't come out of teardrop openings. I can easily fit 2 pallets of wood in here. I made the height 5'6". I usually have a plastic pallet under wood skids. If it's too high I'll trim it shorter.

I finished this small shed. It holds my emergency supply for when we get a Nor'easter.
Will hold 2 wood pallets. Sitting on plastic skid. We're done burning now - maybe a small fire in evening. Got down to 40 last night
Will leave it out in open while splitting. I can park splitter and old mower used to tow it under cover
The fence behind shed in first pic is 6 ft.

    Just another update
My brother came down from Saratoga and took almost all the racking that I had. Told him I'd keep collecting for him
over the last month this is what I got for him. 2 of the new upright finds were 15 ft tall!
    4 here
    6 there
    sometimes only 1

I've made as many sheds as I can fit. Gonna make one more for 3 pallets of firewood. That will use up the last of my metal roofing. My neighbors son wants me to put together a couple of racks for his 4 snowplows. Will make them 6 ft tall. Bolted to 6x6 or concrete slab.
Thinking of making a 10x10 or 10x8 awning with white tarp roof to split under during summer. Similar to the pop up ones you see. Will have to cut up a couple of uprights and weld some corners so snap in beams will be on all 4 sides.

My brother told me I should sell them. Not interested in that but told him OK you owe me $$$
Last time he came down he used his 3/4 ton dodge truck and it rode great with the load.
Told him you gonna need a bigger truck. I think he's bringing his big enclosed trailer this time!

The Home Depot's around here always have them out back but have a sign that you can't take anything
I'm happy with what I'm getting so far
