I'm assuming magnesium but I could be wrong.

Alright Scotty looks good. When ever you are ready let me know and I will PM my address and we will get it done. The bead blasting will be a great help. The oil that seeps into these parts will be our biggest enemy so anything you can do to clean them up will be good. There is always a certain amount of pitting that occurs and cannot be helped with these parts.

Just made it to this forum, saw that Alan already volunteered. If that doesn't work out I can try to assist. I sent the back half of mine to Ohio once so another enthusiast could make some parts for his project saw.

Don't overlook JB Weld, I had to patch the gear box in mine as it had been setting with some moisture in it and was corroded through. On another uncommon saw I had to build up the clutch cover with JB and it worked out very well.

The carburetors are unique to the BP-1 but if you keep watching e-bay and put the word out in some of the other saw forums, parts will eventually show up.

Just to nudge you in the right direction, here is mine with an Auto-Mac bar (oils through the bar directly to the nose sprocket) and the Auto-Mac self sharpening chain. The built in chain grinder stone touches the clutch drum to spin it while it is touching up the chain.

Patched, this has been holding up well for several years.

Cover was in bad shape too

For those that don't know about me, I also cut firewood from time to time

I saw a product out there that is basically an epoxy that was developed to repair pitted pot metal, like on vintage car emblems and trim pieces. Wonder how that would work on the pitted magnesium? Just for cosmetics...

Also, I'm talking with a lady I know here in area about making repop stickers for the saw, if she can do it I'll get a couple sets, if anyone is interested.....

I hope it all comes together for you. Old saws are cool, especially this one. I admire all of you "Keepers of the Saw". I stick to the new stuff myself. Although somebody gifted me an old Lombard.

I just dug the parts out a month ago and have them spread out across my one workbench, but like everything else, getting time to work on them still eludes me. Then all this virus bullchit started, and it got put on the backburner again.

I'd love to find a good original carburetor, that's one part I'm lacking.......

I've got an extra BP-1 carb, but I think it's pretty rough. I need a BP top cover, I'd trade you if you have an extra.

Have you opened it up yet? I have one that looks almost identical to that one, it's pretty much unusable. The insides are roached....
