Smart move. Stick with what you know. Any issues with cedar molding up after its milled? I have a stickered stack here but under cover. Last Summer/Fall milling we did.

Yes sir, we've been going after it!
Trying to beat this rain, we just made it....it started to downpour as I was loading up the last dozen logs on the trailer yesterday.

It should be fine I would think.
    Cedar is pretty mold resistant.
The powder post beetles will get into the white sapwood, but they don't like the pink heartwood.
I always use stickers that are at least 3/4" thick for good air movement, and never space them more than 24" between stickers.

Ive seen the beetles on boards we milled within a couple days. Lil bastards. They seem to like green fresh cut cedar. They didnt touch the dead cedar we milled.

I super hate them little devils! they're really hard to combat..... maybe I should eat em? seems to be the 'in thing" these days....

A few years ago I was sawing a bunch of red alder and having a terrible time with the beetles. I did some research and found out they can be completely eradicated with heat..... it's gotta be over 140f for a while (I can't remember exactly how long), but, it'll kill em in all stages of their miserable stinking bug lives.

Ive heard that bugs dont like charred wood. Wonder if you torched the bark once in the yard it would stop them?

Yeah it does kinda all look the same....

It's just under 50 miles, and takes just over an hour.

That's the one real down side to the deal.

    Yessir!:salute:

It's only going to be 8 or 9 feet inside when we're done, planning to put a bunch of dirt in there to level it all out.
We're building it on a pretty good slope... about 32" of slope in the 24' width of the barn.

I misread your OP. Thought it said goat pen, not barn. Makes sense to me now. Some nice heartwood logs. Hopefully goats dont like the taste of cedar.
