Yep, those insulators are rough, much worse than a nail. Worked with a guy that resawed and planed heart pine timbers/beams. We used a metal detector and got the nails out. Je had the big vertical bandsaw with feed rollers, blade was probably 5-6" wide. Ran a beam through that had porcelain insulator tube buried in it. Not a pretty sight, for sure.

That's a good one Jim. Was at Home depot today, and as is my habit I priced framing lumber.....it appears I've been doing it all wrong......I thought I was sposta cut off the "roundy part" of the tree.....
Truth. Monopolies can do whatever they want, once they have destroyed the competition.... not so with us little guys.... we have to tow the line if we want to survive.
