We have an old farm house with a closed in porch. It makes an L so a lof snow piles up in the valley. My wife couldn’t get into the place she was working this morning so she came home and pulled a lot of snow out of the valley so I need to move it with the tractor then have a beer with an old friend who is in town for a couple days. Have to clear the 5”of fluffy snow from the driveway as well. Busy night but will be fun.
Have fun, the warmer temps make it real nice. I went to buy some Amsoil Diesel Recovery (the dealer didn't have it) so I bought some Power Service 911. The 4540 never gelled up but if it did, I have a treatment. Diesel Fuel Treatment - 911 vs AMSOIL Diesel Recovery
Tomorrow it's time to put in two loads of wood before the rain hits, we still have a full rack of Oak for some colder weather and 1.5 racks of Beech and Sugar Maple. I didn't get a chance today so maybe tomorrow I'll get that bucket on the 4540 and move some snow from some areas where the water will runoff. We'll get some more sand ready and some wood ashes for the driveway further away from the house, if the warmer temps with the rain doesn't get it down to the gravel then we could be looking at a skating rink. I did put five gallons of diesel treated with Arctic Blast in the 4540.
I was just looking at AccuWeather, they say after the rain ends and the colder weather comes in we'll be looking at 6-10 inches of snow ending late Saturday.
With all the rain, freezing rain and snow coming in (maybe 12-18 inches of snow) I decided to plow out the low side of our house and then we put in three loads of firewood. Before we put in the wood, I put another extension on the roof rake and took more snow off the roof. Tomorrow I'll put a few weep holes in a few snowbanks near the house so the water will flow away from the cellar wall.
The streams and the brooks are moving real good with some of them having some ice jams. We received some ice but it turned to snow so it shouldn't be that bad. I see certain areas in the salt city got hit pretty good with flooding, the same happened in certain areas up here.
We had 5 degrees for the whole day today, we received what we think was 14 inches of snow from the storm so I let the 4540 get warm and then plowed our driveway and some trails in the woods and then headed down to the neighbors to plow the driveway.
Very warm here since last night with a lot of rain. No snow left for the most part. So much water came in the basement the sump couldn’t keep up. We have 2 sump pits that are connected by a pipe so I bought a second pedestal style one to permanently install there. Also picked up another pump meant for draining basements but it doesn’t have a float valve and can hook up to a garden hose. I didn’t think I would need it but figured better safe. I did need it as the water got about an inch from the new furnace. All is well now and just have to finish attaching the hose for the pump as it’s just laying across a bench but I did get the hole drilled to the outside done tonight. Had to do that as we couldn’t leave the window open the temps dropping. A little shop vac work tomorrow and it will be good as new.
There were plenty of basements being pumped out in our county when we hit 55 and then the heavy rains came. Nice job getting the basement dry, I would rather have the snow than the rain.
I put the battery tender on it after plowing yesterday so with another colder night tonight, I decided to leave the tender on it and finish the plowing tomorrow once it gets to zero.
I added fppf fuel power to my shopping cart along with all the fluids and filters. Hopefully the stuff works good until i pickup some amsoil.
I did some plowing around the house on the trails so it would be easier for the dog to walk around and to get the wood.
I did roof rake the edge of part of our roof and then plow out that snow from the driveway with the 4540.
