I usually have the camera in the rhino but didn't have that out so I didn't take any pictures. The wife wanted more stumps gone so I removed six (nothing huge) before the thunder started, that storm stayed north of us this time but it looks like we might get hit after 6. I did check all the fluids before starting today, everything was "Gooder". If we get enough rain, I'll try burning some of the roots and a few smaller stumps tomorrow.
Zap, it is beautiful here today with temperatures in the 60's, cloudy and windy. Fells like fall and feels great! Wish my body would take it as I'd be splitting or cutting some wood. I do have one small apple I need to get down and cut up for a friend who wants it for smoking. He gave up cigarettes I guess.
This stump was from some clearing we did X amount of years ago, I ended up taking 3 loads (2 pictured) to the stump dump. After raking out all the roots I ran the 4540 over it and the rhino.......we won't be tripping on that stump anymore. In picture 0387, I'll use that lane to push snow through this winter.
thewoodlands i don't know when you get time to sleep. You and the tools seem to get worked daily. If you aren't careful you will run out of chores
My working days are done so I have plenty of time for the work around the house. The thinning of the pines won't be done for many years which will leave me plenty of stump work. Gasifier had given me a bunch of tips on stump removal before the backhoe came in so he made the job much easier. With the weather cooling off, it's almost time to hit the woods to split some Maple.
I did work until 2 this afternoon with the 4540 and the rhino. I moved some junk wood to the pile I started dumping the roots on and then took a load of bark to a low spot on a trail. The batteries in the camera were dead so I either need a new set or they weren't in the charger the proper way.
It's making work easier that's for sure. Today I didn't get any work in since we went to town for gas, diesel and some groceries. Tomorrow will be spreading the last of the sand over an area I dug some stumps out of and then some splitting and then cover some wood. Our shoulder season wood will be covered by Monday and hopefully the rest by the 15 of August. Next week I'll start clearing one of our main snow storage areas, it's on that 0.92 of an acre we bought this summer.
I've moved a lot of sand this summer and a little wood. Still more wood to move but not a lot until we start the winter cutting.
Tomorrow my plans are to move about a f/c of three year old seasoned Ironwood to an area on the northside so we can burn that this year when the coldest weather hits. We also have my only scrounge (Oak) which should be ready to go, it was stacked in 2012.
I have quite a bit of wood left to stack from last springs GTG. I have most of the ash stacked now but a lot of pine, spruce and hemlock to stack. Most of that was split by one Redneck Thanks Randy
Get that little redhead stacking! Next week we'll drop that pine that is blocking some sun to the house and very close to our stacking area, then I can get stacking. We have another planned trip (not sure when) to the Saranac Lake NY area with the boat and then I have some splitting in the woods to do.
