you are forgiven I would be irate.. and make sure no woman or children were around when it was discussed
They really need another service guy, when I was talking with Dave last week he was saying he hopes John hires a guy who he can train so he's not the only guy who works on the tractors. I hope they take care of you once they get back.
I have never bought anything new chrt of a chainsaw and some guns, but Reading constant stories like this of tractor issues and truck issues makes me not really want to. Pay all that money for something to still have it breakdown and getting the run around about fixing it or just not doing it right the first time!!! I drive new trucks at work with a warrenty most of the time I drive them. I am not immune to these issues. I just don't pay for itm but do get tired of wasting my time at dealers getting the run around.
Last year after I took the hoe off for the winter I was losing power, my hydraulic lines in the back weren't connected proper (my fault) have you checked all your hydraulic line hookups ? How are your hydraulic lines up near the bucket, it looked like there was some hydraulic fluid on the ground in one of the pictures after the mishap.
Oh ya. There have been multiple leaks going on. Mahindra has a quality control issue. No doubt in my mind now. I have owned Kubota that were ten years old and older that didn't have these problems. And now I can't use low gear. That's where all the power is.
Dave knew I wasn't happy. I asked him what was going on. How busy are you guys? He said I'm very busy. Overwhelming at times. I'm the only tractor mechanic. I said, They have sold a lot of tractors from what I'm told. Yes, we have well over a hundred tractors out there. And I'm servicing all of them.
We haven't had any hydraulic leaks on our model, yet. He needs a second guy so he can service the tractors he sells and so Dave gets a break from work. Just from our dealing with WCS, 80 percent of the problem is the company Mahindra because they take forever on getting back with the WCS. Last year the guy in the Ogdensburg store finally talked with a person not in management at the company (not Mahindra) that made the third function kit who had the correct part number for our third function valve. We had ordered the plow & third function kit just after Thanksgiving with the plow coming in about two weeks later and the third function kit coming in the first week of February. It seems like every Mahindra series tractor has a different third function kit.
Depends a lot on the dealer. Mine {edit: not a Mahindra, but am thinking there is no difference} came to the farm to do the 100hr fluid change and found a loose screw stuck to the magnet on the hydraulic filter. They took it back and tore it down to make sure it was accounted for. They didn't find any missing, and I've had zero issues for the following 1600 hours. We did older equipment for years, and I've got a love for old iron, but when it comes to turning the key half a mile from home in the cold and snow, knowing it is going to start every single time, it is hard to beat new. Plus as the price of the new ones go up, mine retains a lot of its original value.
I've always bought used tractors. Find an older model (10-20 y.o.) in good shape with low hours and save a ton of money. Work it for a year or two, take care of it and fix anything that I break, and then sell it for almost as much or the same as I bought it. This time I decided to go new. I'm now wishing I had gone new Kubota or maybe Deere.
Kubota is what you want. My buddy just bought a new cab over 60 horse or so JD. It was full of leaks. Had to take it back could get it fixed long story short he lost it with their excuses sent his dad up there and he found the engine apart on the shop floor. He said that's it I have had it, you bring me a new tractor, that one is yours. I am leaving a lot out but at this point he had had the tractor like 4 months and only actually had it and used it like 3 weeks. He got a new one delivered to his house.
Sorry to hear about your problems Gasifier. With the problems you are having especially with the trans I would see if they would do a buy back. If stuff is breaking at 200hrs what is it going to be at 2000hrs? Does your state have a lemon law for tractors? I know some people that have Mahindras. The batteries corroding are a common problem. The one guy I know started having major problems at 16hrs.
100 tractors should not be keeping a guy that busy. Most people probably put 50hrs a year on their tractor so there should not be much maintenance or repair required. There are 52 weeks in a year, he could see 2 tractors a week, or if they have sold 150 that would be 3 a week. Are they having that many problems?
I wanted to make something clear. The owner of the dealership I bought the tractor from is a good guy. The mechanic is also a good guy. My frustration is with Mahindra. They obviously have a quality control problem. You can brag about having largest tractor sales in the world all you want. No one cares if you are selling an inferior product. The dealership is going through a learning curve on managing this as well though. And dealing with Mahindra. Nothing is simple.
I was thinking the same thing. My little tractor is to bush hog my say 7 acres of open fields a few times a year. Box the woods road, finish mow some when I din't use mower, and random tasks as asigned. I do have a variable hour meter but only put 125 hours on in 9 years. So yea there people who don't put many hours but also every one of the 100 tractors should not need that much repair, esp under warranty when there required to fix.
I hear several folks who don't buy new and always buy used. However, only one time have I bought new and had a big problem. Most times don't even have to have a dealer involved because things are basically trouble free. We have a neighbor who always bought used and had very strong feelings that it was the right thing to do. Not sure why but over the last 10 years he has suddenly changed and buys mostly new and is happy. Not always buying new though. He bought a used 70 hp Kubota and has been happy with it.
I read a key word in there Sav. Kubota. I was happy with the two Kubotas I owned as well. They were not big enough for all the future work I have though. And did not have Ag tires. I have a lot of work to do and need Ag tires in my soil. I gave advice to a friend to buy a Kubota. Wouldn't you think I would do as I say. Today I have worked this tractor for 6-1/2 hours now. Gave it three breaks to get a drink and let it rest/cool down. But temp gauge reads good. No low gear. But besides that it has performed well. When everything is working the way it should I am impressed with the tractor. There has just been to many times there is this little thing wrong, or that little ...... Break time for caffeine and let dogs out. Then back at it! Here she is pushing in medium range. I forgot to take a picture of large stump I pulled. But you guys have seen enough of those. The second is an are I went through today. Pulled at least 20 stumps. All sizes. A few rocks and leveled skidder ruts using hoe and loader. The Mahindra did well. I will be glad when I get low range back.
