You talking about layering brush or trees to cross wet areas?

Some used small trees but we usually used slabwood and sawdust.

    No, never hearD of that.

That term is sometimes used for the skid road in swap logging referred to how the trees are laid down to form a mat for skidders to run on. But I don't deal with swamp logging.

I had to cut the ends off some of these where they were a little punky, but the rest that I piled will make decent shoulder season wood for spring of 2018. Not a bad start for two hours of work this morning. Time to break for lunch with my parents.

Well I remembered a spot I wanted to clean out while ground was still frozen enough to get in there.

Some dead Willow branches that are down.

This area will be too wet as soon as it warms up. Got most of it out. Tomorrow morning early I'll get the rest.

Yes. It was about 6 early this morning and yesterday morning. With wind chill making it colder than that yesterday.

Talking about the John Deere 210C? Depends what I'm doing really. If I'm moving dirt I miss the larger bucket. But I have most of the large amounts of dirt moved now. I miss the larger grapple if I'm moving a lot of brush. But, it was also a lot heavier and the backhoe did not come off of it. And it had industrial tires, which is okay for what I was using it for. This machine has nice power, and is still pretty heavy for a tractor of this size, so good for picking up heavy material like these larger logs. With the weight of these tractors, the rear tires being filled, and the backhoe on the back, combining these with their lifting power makes them pretty stout and sturdy machines for working. I am really enjoying the Agricultural tires. I have a lot of work to do out in the woods and field, they really have a great bite to them for traction!

You'll be getting muddy within days. We received three inches of snow today along with rain, what did you get in your area?

About two inches of snow then it turned to rain/sleet mix. We have a lot of slush now.
