Found this Magnum BC-AC pellet stove for sale locally. Owner had trouble with it at the end of last season. A service tech diagnosed it as needing a sensor/switch replaced and a thorough cleaning. The owner decided to switch to a gas unit and never repaired the stove. Could this be the high or low limit switch(snap disk)? Or do they have a proof of fire sensor? Stove is atleast 6 yrs old. I know nothing about this brand of stove but I am very mechanically handy. Are parts readily available? Owner is asking about $300 and comes with piping and a wall thimble. What do you think? Any advice would be great.
Yeah, the price is great. I do not really need another stove but am having a hard time not considering picking it up. If it's simple fixes that don't break the bank, I'm all in. I'm just not familiar with this brand and don't want to buy someone else's headache.
I have a friend that has been heating her huge old farm house with 2 of those units for the past 5 years! Having the flexibility to burn corn with the corn fire pot and multi-fuel or corn venting is really cool too!
Having extra stoves is a great thing. $300 is certainly a good price if the thing is in good physical condition. The innards can be repaired easily and stuff like a sensor or two are a quick fix. I WOULD grab it up right quick. (A little haggling is always worth a try) Fix it, toss a fire in it., snap a few pix and plop it on Craigs list if you don't need it Make some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$
